Torque Of The South Motorsport

1/4 Mile Dyno Competition & mini meet

Event minimum of 10 entries required for event to commence

Ok guys was thinking of having a little fun and doing a RR day but with a twist!

Instead of doing Bhp runs/figures was thinking of using the dyno to run 1/4 mile times which are fairly accurate to what you would expect to get on track.
We had the software installed & recently calibrated and it appears to be rather consistant to what you would expect on the drag strip.''Johnny gtir'' has had a go at it whilst helping out down here and did a 12. 70s run and im sure will bare out that its really good fun.

Format
You will get 3 runs per car and heres the good bit......... you can drive your own car once its secured on dyno by ourselves.
Once you have received some breif instruction on dyno eticate and you will then proceed with your 1/4 mile 3 timed runs.
All participants will receive a group breifing at start of day of what to and more importaantly what NOT to do.
Rather important to us as well as others in vacinity that your car stays put on the dyno  affraid

Absolutely 'no access' will be allowed in the main workshop other than the participating driver at given time and staff.
We are firm on this rule in interest of everyones safety & for insurance reasons alike.
There will however be a large screen near main entrance that will be clearly visible to all.

Their will be free Tea & coffee (light snacks) throughout the day in our adjacent workshop office area

Prizes & trophys for the top 3 cars will be handed out at end of the day

1st will receive a Trophy & £50 cash prize
2nd recieve a trophy & £20 cash prize
3rd a trophy and £10 prize

As said guys it will merely be a bit of fun on the day and an out of season event (mini meet if you wish) to enjoy

Gtir's only event[/b that way it saves on dyno loading times and keeps things a little fairer for everyone participating!

In short for this to take place we will need a minimum of 10 cars and based on this amount the cost will be £50 per car
Should we get in excess 15 cars the price will drop to £40 per entrant

Maximum number of entrants will be a strict 20 so only limited places available

If the day is a success which im sure you will all enjoy, we will then look at organising another next year sometime as we have a few clubs keen on doing these days

Please copy paste name only if you wish to participate
Full payment of £50 required by all participants as soon as numbers reach the 10 for event to go ahead.
Should we get 15 or more...... You will all receive the £10 cashback discount on the day of event

Any Qs then fire away

Sounds like a great idea and day. I would love to get my Sunny on there, even if the non Pulsars can go first or last.

Sunny / Pulsar Gti's are ok to run same goes for anyone who wants to use a Rasheen, as all same based chassis and dimensions.

Need to get names down for this if you want the event to go ahead (as i need notice) so copy paste name of anyone who deffo wants to run their car

Il start the list as have a pulsar here i will run myself on the day (only around 300bhp stock car) so not certainly not that quick but will give you all a time to beat lol

Issue is my car isnt running well enough to run on a dyno as it need a tune up and sort out. Have emailed you Bob to see if I can get it down to you but as its only next month I doubt you could get it in to look at.

Pending how my mapping session goes With you  in early November , I will travel down for the day but I will bring the wife and Audi  as I doubt the car will live . Bob is this your underhand way of generating more work for yourself , as I'm sure there will be casualties .Very Happy

It's all rubbish mate I know lots of people that track there cars drag there cars. I launched my ones enough times never had a box or clutch fail due to it. My sunny Gti with pulsar lump in spent its life spinning the wheels and on the red line not on purpose the thing was just a animal and never threw a rocker and was a standard rebuilt engine but had a fair few miles on . Built properly these cars are way stronger than people think or give credit for

That's good to hear . My fear of turbo cars comes from blowing an Volvo 760 2.3 turbo when I was 17years old . I put a hole in the block and got such a roasting from my folks . I later found that the waste gate was jammed closed giving high levels of boost which in turn caused the accident . It was right in the centre of the city and I caused lots of problems.

Oh the shame.

We ran a VW modified n/a Golf tonight after some tuning work, using our 1/4 mile program which we asked to be installed upon purchase of the DD dyno.
The car is owned by a tuner that we use, who also works as a design engineer at Fords research centre so certainly knows whether something is a gimmick or reasonably accurate.

'His words' Results are very realistic and seem to be consistantly accurate with what you would expect on a 1/4 mile strip!

lets say he was very impressed, and with a little more software tweeking it could be made even better. So we are well pleased with this input especially from someone with a huge array of skills in software design, tuning and other r&d areas too  Smile

Im going to cancel this event guys as there clearly is not enough interest with the pulsars.

We are extremely busy at the mo that i need to have stuff like this confirmed around 3-4 weeks in advance or that one day (especially a Saturday) can mess my work/dyno schedule up hugely.
Already getting calls regarding that Saturdays dyno slots available, so will need to take the bookings as from now.

Sorry guys but dont think we would have had the numbers anyway

I knew who it was when you said ford engineer before clicking the link and yep it's Eddie. Surprised he was at your dyno as he always uses garage streamline. He does love an abf engine lol
