Yeah should be from what I believe! I have a GT2860RS and that's roller bearing. Should here it run down after engine switch off

Mine is. You can hear the turbine still spinning when you turn the engine off.

garrett do 'as said' a 2871 journal bearing turbo or 2871r which is roller bearing
so ideally you need to check id numbers marked on plate
but you should be able to tell by the way the compressor wheel spins if you spin it up with your fingers

If you sneeze on it and it spins it's a roller turbo... Also if you switch engine off and you still can hear it spinning (sort of humming noise)

I bought it from someone on here who upgraded to a 3071 but not sure if it's roller bearing .. I've checked emails to see if I can figure out who I bought it from but I can't remember .. who was it that had the mag feature recently?

Either way rollers are good but unless it's uprated bearing cage etc don't last long as cage melts. Sometimes oil entry gives it away as it has a restrictor built into it (not all)

I am pretty sure it was brought from the states, I cant remember what it said on the receipt but there was an invoice in the cars folder of stuff when I had it. I think he had purchased it when he rebuilt the engine. It was abut £700/800 from memory but that was a few years ago! maybe Pete still has the documentation to have a look.
