Surely it's up to the Dvla the lazy twats they should know what there registering.

Just edit an auction sheet to suitable date of registration for 1990 & your vin & send them that And state this evidence was given originally hence the H plate but date been manually input wrong on V5
They certainly had right docs at time but tit who typed it into computer done it wrong.

HPI check is useless on import, it won't tell you anything pre import on first registration .

What you could do though is edit that hpi doc before print it so shows date of registration Japan & input suitable day & month in 1990 & offer that as your evidence along with fact it already on H plate suppoting fact it 1990 .

using Nissan fast this is the dates of manufacture based on VIN group numbers:

Choose a date like 21/6/1990 for 1st registration

All it says to do on dvla site is underline what is wrong and write correct at the side and inc a letter explaining why it's wrong lol

Try it and see how goes, if ask for doc with jap reg date then have sort it ! as you sticking with 1990 year can't see them being to concerned, assume would be more fussy if tried changing year meaning plate wrong & needed new plate issued .

Don't put month of production as DVLA don't care they want date it registered (plated) in Japan
put date of registration japan & have it before August or it going be a J plate not an H .

So date like 23/10/1990 would be good registration date

This info really should be good enough for that buyer. If not is it worth changing it by faffing about with Dylan, this really only matters to the Euro buyer?
A Uk buyer wouldn't really be bothered.
