Tracktool Sunny GTI

Im hoping im posting this topic in the right section, but anyway; hereby i like to show my Sunny GTI conversion to a track car:

In june 2013 i bought a pretty much stock Nissan Sunny GTI with only a AEM cold air intake and a Intrax coilover set.

The speclist as its stands today:

Engine: SR20DE highport
-Megan racing 2,5" header and downpipe
-EPS 2,25" Stainless steel exhaust
-Z32 fuel filter
-GTI-R water outlet out of the cilinder head
-GTI-R 50mm alloy radiater with 3 slimfans
-GTI-R hoses
-Prothane PU engine mounts
-Prothane PU shifter linkage bush
-Shortshifter
-alloy CustomSteel gearshifter piece

Handling, brakes and wheels:
-Lenso VPD rims, Muteki wheelnuts & Toyo proxxes T1R's
-Intrax RS coilovers
-Alloy bushes in the engine crossbar
-complete front and rear Strongflex polyurethane bushes sets
-SuspensionTechniques 19mm rear stabilizer with Prothane PU bushes
-Rear and front strut braces
-P11 GT master brake cilinder
-Stel brake hoses
-Z32 26mm front brake calipers
-Stoptech brakepads with 300mm front discs
-Maxima A32 278mm rear brake discs and caliper mounts

-2x SafetyDevices 6point harnass (FIA)
-OMP suede steeringwheel with a spacer
-Odessy lightweight battery behind the front seat

Currently im building and saving money to build a SR20VE wich i allready have disassembelt, and offcourse al the other nice stuff there is to buy

Nice write-up mate, you have some good spec's on the car. Fitting a VE would be a nice additional especially for the track. It wont be long until you decide that VE should be a VET

Woody, the VE would indeed be a nice upgrade, im hoping tot het around 190-200 bhp with custom mapping, N1 cams, bigger intake with a Q45 throttlebody and a fujitsubo exhaust.

Pulsarmoley, i dont thing i have 170 bhp now, stock it was 143 and the engine is the only thing i haventje really changed som much, mainly because i wanted a VE trok the beginning. I dont have tested the output of this engine aswell.

First video with dodgy music no available and yours looked good on track but crack in the windscreen was so annoying watching the video lol

(Small) update time

Last month ive ordered about 75% off al the parts i need to get the VE going, now im looking for some time to start building it.

Last week ive started fitting a FRP bonnet:

Last week made some progress getting the car ready to get the old engine out and the VE in. Also took the electric windows out with al the wiring and the glass. The glass window will be used to make some lexan windows. Saves about 4kg per door. The wiring of the ABS is also gone, made a switch to turn ABS on of off but because its always off im deleting it aswell.

Took the dashboard out:


The new wiring for the Greddy MSS and VE solenoids will be integrated in the normale wiring loom.

Also took the front off starting to make room to take the DE out. Next thing is to make the front bumper bar lighter and delete more wires under the hood, and modify it to fit the VE.


First box full with stuff that doesnt go back in the car, hope more will folow XD

Amazing how much weight you can actually free up when removing stuff. Good to hear you're making progress.

Just as a starter you can remove 2 massive pieces of weight at the front. One under the radiator and one behind the front bumper. Wiring weighs also more than you would guess.

Long time no update, but here whe are again ;-)
Last couple off days i had some free time to make the SR20VE work, this is what I've done so far:

Tommorow im starting to take out the old SR20DE and work on the engine bay. T

Nice update mate, engine is looking good, it can be challenging finding to time to get stuff done.
