Whats the best way to take this off? from underneath the car from under the bonnet? (meaning the bolts at the elbow)

If referring to the 3 bolt dp flange to the cast elbo then from under car is best.
Can have 1 or 2 snap if you unlucky but if been off before in recent times & put back well they may undo easy ...

perfect thanks, yeah the 3 bolts on the flange, yeah its a mongoose so its been off but unsure of when...

Yeah as said you will need to access it from below, the studs are on the elbow and the downpipe slots up into the elbow and bolts on. It can be a bit awkward to get enough leverage when lying on your back but getting it as high as possible on axle stands will help.

As mentioned try to soak it in WD40 or similar on the nuts as it may be a pain if one snaps.
