Hello once again pulsar people. Can anyone tell me the length the standard head bolts are supposed to be as i can only find the length of the sr20de bolts in the work book (158.2mm). The bolts i have removed are about 180mm.Any info would be of great help... cheers

just measured them properly and they are 180.1mm (from thread end to base of bolt head) Did nissan make loads of different lengths? The only reason i need to know is just to see if they have stretched or if i can use them again.Bit confused now............. as per normal ;-)

The online workshop manual has the correct lengths in which is acceptable as they are stretch bolts.

As Bucky says. I'm sure the manual states you only measure the threaded section of the bolt to determine if they are reusable.

As a general rule tho if they have only been torqued down once they will be ok to use again

The manual shows you measure the full length of the bolt not just the threaded section (not the bolt head though) on page 207, but it only gives sr20de lengths not sr20det lengths.I dont mind buying new ones but would like to reuse the originals if i can.

Hello all,
I'm bring this thread up again to ask if anyone has ever reused their DET head bolts?
I've got 20 of them and have just been to the gage labs where i used slip rings.
If i set the slip rings to 180.43mm, 10 of the bolts are under this length and 10 of the bolts are over this length,
So, could i re-use the 10 bolts that are less then 180.43mm in length?
Its a shame to bin them all and it'll save a few quid with my rebuild costs

I would reuse them, i've used one set at least 3 times. they don't show specs so would assume they not tty bolts. for a big power build I would be fussy but for most stuff reusing bolts has no problems .

Well bugger me Shocked Shocked
Never thought id see the day that Mr B says re-use old parts,
I was on the verge of ordering new ones aswell, now im not sure.

If my experience of std bolts is correct the lengths are usually specced to the nearest 5mm, so these bolts wouldve originally been 180mm long so they've stretched ~0.43mm, about 0.24% which naff all i suppose,
Is it common knowledge that these are re-used?

Standard head bolts get reused a lot without issue, it one of the extra durable bits of the 54C along with the standard conrods, worth putting in set of arp conrod bolts though .
