Which boost controller?

Right guys i need oppinions on boost controllers?

Im sick to the back teeth of trying to set my AVCR up. Im only running 1bar of boost but no matter how much i play with the FEEDBACK & START DUTY settings i just cant get it to hold a constant 1bar of boost!

Ive got 5th gear pretty much spot on but 2nd, 3rd, 4th it will hit 1 bar then tail off to 0.8 - 0.9 bar threw the rev range.

Now ive prob spent around 24 hours in total reading up on google & forums on how to set the AVCR up & ive tryed everything, FEEDBACK is ok in all gears it dousnt overboost but STARTDUTY should keep it at a constant 1bar by uping the percentage in each gear to reach target boost, but its not helping!

Alot of people have said they get pissed off trying to set the AVCR up & go on to other boost controllers. So that is what im going to do!

So can any1 tell me what the PROFEC B, or BLITZ boost controllers are like? Or are they a pain to set up like the AVCR?

I have a blitz seem to work fine on my pulsar i got my son in law to set mine up as he has one also lol

I thought with those you just set the required boost and then it let you increas duty cycle in each gear individually to maintain the boost?

Yes mate exactly that lol have lo and hi settings also

lo and hi settings hey ive got get mine set up do just use the 2 settings or is there not 3 programmable also whats ur lo and hi setting set at?

Which model of blitz is it youve got?

& dous any1 no what the profec b is like?

I've got a greddy E01, think it's like a profec b but with the fancy screen.It's not that hard ot set up but they could have made it a bit more logcial ie you want 1 bar, just enter 1 bar.INstead you have to enter start boost which is what it will hold the wastegate totally shut until, then set which is a % over the actuator pressure you want to run, then gain which controls spool.If you change one thing though it changes all the others.

Yeh thats pretty much what the AVCR is like but probably more of a pain! Im just after a controller that will hold a constant 1bar threw the rev range in each gear which i understand all boost controllers take some setting up but they cant all be as bad as the AVCR to set up?

are you selling avcr ?

Not at the min as im trying to find another controller thats easyer to work with & get peoples oppinions. But if i get another controller it will be up for sale!

just run a 1 bar loop that way she will not spike and will hold a bar perfic all day long, and it wont cost you a bean lol

i am useing a gizzmo ms-ibc v2 easy to work and set up etc

Very true Bob but i want something that looks fancy, but not a pain in the bum to set up As a controller will help prevent me doing damage if i do ever have an overboost problem lol

Its the dual spec ... i think its 3 settings stock . then 1 bar then 1.2 and hi and low iv got it stock and 1bar i havnt tested it out yet mind as i spent most of tje day moving my fmic up so the bumpew fits etc

Ok cheers nomad. aslong as it holds boost ok & dousnt back off threw the rev range & dousnt have a stupid setting to prvent it. i may go for 1 of them!

It does have peak warning i noticed it before i set it up i blipped the throttle and it went off like an annoying alarm clock lmao

Ive just been reading up on them all & they all seem like the avcr where they have a setting if the boost tails off you can up the duty untill it holds desired boost! pain in the arse to set up

I may just leave it as these controllers look more hasle than there worth

my avcr holds boost constant and only if you set it to be progressive through the gears dose it do that

No ive set mine up to hold 1bar in all gears!

Ive got a HKS SSQV bov aswell & just been reading up that a few people have had them leak, so im going to blank the inlet off where the bov fits to & block the vac pipe off & see if it cures it?

I was going to say if it might be another underlining problem elsewhere .

Yep i never thought about it being a boost leak as its always held boost ok & is fine in 5th gear! But there could be a small leak on the BOV & leaking in the lower/faster gears making it lose 1-2 psi of boost?

Ill just have to try it 1 day this week when this crap weather dissapears

Its meant to be crap all week mate wich i hope it isnt as all my work is outside atm .

Think we had our summer last week when it was hot. thats it now winter for the rest of the year... It wouldnt supprise me lol
