I'm wondering what's people's thoughts if the battery's been relocated to the boot?
I've read recently about drop in volts etc.
My last set up was a larger cranking amps battery, using 4awg cable and after a week there wasn't enoughjuice  to start the car.
So before I strip the set up from my old car what's the general thoughts, size wise etc.

I used 0awg cable when I relocated my battery. I can't if that's right but was recommended to me at the time. Had no problems when the car was on the road.

I would use no less than 2 gauge as above 0 gauge is best. Solid core cable is better again and alows you to use smaller but it's harder to run and bend neat

Above 0 gauge? I thought 0 was the thickest and thinner wire the numbers go up??
So I'm looking at probably 5 or 6m of 0 awg is my best bet then?

Oh yeah lol,i see it now! God it's not been a good day :-D
ok,that's settled.
What have people used for connecting the power cable in the engine bay??
I had a crappy  1x 4awg to 4 x 8awg connector box.
I've found some kits in audio supplies.

That connector block is a good idea, haven't seen one like that before. Will fit nicely into the engine bay as well.

I remember reading somewhere that using welder cable is very good, due to the fact that it usually has a very high strand count think of the amount of power it has to carry. Should be quite cheap as well.

This is quite a decent place to buy wiring stuff. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/

Woody your first link looks like you would struggle to get two at same side mate. What size cable is it for

Ive seen some completely sealed junction boxes, would just need to drill holes for the cables and join them together with some lugs and a bolt.

what i did is just go to your local scrapyard, find a nice estate BMW and rip the cable and the whole connector from under the bonnet. The connector under the bonnet has got a nice wire which goes to the loom to which is a plus.

It cost me a tennah and i got myself a good quality phat cable Smile

This is how I did mine. Battery cable runs between the front seats and runs off one pole, next pole is from alternator then starter motor and final pole is to fuse box. Fuse is for the alternator as I no longer use the fusible links.. Distribution block was from eBay and good for 150amp, you can get them with covers but meh.

Thanks Nigel, this is how I've done mine. I have the starter motor wired to it then a cable running to another distribution block in the engine bay for the standard fuse box etc. I really want to move the relay box from the engine bay but was unsure exactly what wiring I needed now the standard ecu etc is completely gone.
