Is there an engine removal guide on here or can anyone point me in the direction of one?

If not can anyone give me a rough idea on how to do this please?

I've got a rough idea, just never done it before although I have done a gearbox which wasn't bad at all

My friend wants to rebuild his engine but we won't be doing this bit, that's out of my league at the mo

Cheers

Yeah cheers, helps a bit. Just need a list of things to disconnect before removing the engine.

Remove wheels and hub nuts, etc so drive shafts can come out
Remove exhaust
Slave cylinder
Prop shaft
Gear linkage
Intercooler pipe
Engine mounts and stabilisers
Rad pipes

Is there anything else missing I will need to remove and if so can someone add it to the list please.

I'm not in front of a car right now but if I was I would see the obvious bits.

Any other info would be appreciated.

Do I need to disconnect the battery for when I remove the plug to the starter motor, etc?

Any other tricks or tips? Maybe once I've done it I could do a how to guide for others wanting to give it a go

Cheers

your best of just disconnecting the battery before do anything.
youll want to disconnect all electrics, grounds, sensors
you want need to disconnect the power steering pipe that is on a bracket at back off the bay next to the drivers strut mount, you want to get a adjustable spanner on the part the bolt is think 22 or 24mm spanner fits.
fuel lines
prop shaft onto the transfer box
I find it easier to take the front stabilizer bar off completely give you more room to get the turbo through without bashing and wiggling it out

if your taking the gearbox and transfer box off id drain the oil first, same with the engine

Also forgot there's coolant hoses that go to the heater matrix that will need disconnecting, they are on passenger side of the bay just above the gearbox towards the rear

I removed my drive shafts from the tri-axe rather than pulling them out the box so didn't lose any fluid and left them in the hubs. Simply undid the hub suspension bolts and track rod ends. Undid the gaitors and pulled them out . Then covered the gaitor end so they are not exposed to the elements

Notice not many mention the top mount intercooler or aircon. Look out lads there back on the up as cars go back to standard. And a y bracket speaks volumes to some as to weather its been messed with a few times

Be aware that there are another 4 or so sensors to disconnect round the back of the engine when you release the engine from its mounts. You can't really get to these easily, so I wait until I've tilted the engine forward for access Wink maybe other people do it differently though

Yeah completely different.... take the whole loom out with the engine, then disconnect those sensors (water/oil/aac etc) once the engines out

Ah ok, never thought of doing it that way. So you just disconnect further back and take the whole loom with it?
