There has been a lot of people looking for an R lately. I remember when there was normally in excess of 10 for sale in Aus, now there is only a couple.

There is a feature now in jap performance about what top 3 cars can beat a Subaru Impreza, and a Gti-r is one of them.
Also the new 25 year import rule has brought the Gtir back into the importing limelight. A repeat of the early 2000's in popularity would be great, but with so few left I can't see it happening.

Front clip is where they chop a car just behind the dash /bulkhead and sell the front end only. .
It's a way of buying engine gearbox , suspension , wiring all in one go. Also get the wings, etc .. basically everything from gearstick forwards ...
Some of the ones on ebay America look mint and all of them have uncut front bumpers

Probably flood damaged or rear ended  or more likely worth more like that .
How many clips could you fit  in 1 container as opposed to how many full cars will fit in a container

No, it was sold as front clips, mainly to the states, becuase of the import law before where you could not import the whole car, so alot of them where buying front clips and converting them on their fwd Nissan Sentra's, Nissan NX's etc. But hopefully the 25 year import law has been lifted the whole car in 1 piece can now be imported. Wink

This 25 year rule will cause a demand for the GTI-R like never before, and with demand you have to have supply, which we all know is not going to happen.

For many years GTI-Rs have been getting "front cut" or "front clip" with the majority going to the US for implants into the Sentra, I even remember some years agos seeing a DL2 RB (Winter Green) that looked in excellent contdition and under 70k kms on the clocks, chopped up for parts.

GTI-Rs are going to be harder to get, due in part to the demand that will come out of the US, so if you have one, hang onto it, or sell it to the Yanks for a profit.

It's great that the demand for gtirs is going to increase and with that comes more exposure, I'd love to see more gtirs in other parts of the world. Unfortuately that does mean parts will be in higher demand than they already are, which means prices will end up reflecting that for the rest of us

So the 3 contenders to beat the STI were Mazda MPS, Civic Type R and the GTIR which won.

In regards to the top mount being a weak point? I wouldn't say it's a weak point, especially if you modding it on a budget.

I was thinking the same thing, where is this car from? Nice words of wisdom in the article aswell Laughing
