starter motor

Hi all im in the middle of gearbox removal but cant seem to take out starter motor and get access to the bastard bolts.I have removed the 2 long gearbox bolts and the 12mm nut on the starter motor but it will not budge,am i missing something? any help with this much appreciated.

give it a tap or wriggle it as its quite a tight fit in the aperture and probably just stuck

All the bolts for the starter are gearbox  side so aslong as you have taken them out think its 2 bolts iirc then thats it mate so give it a pull up and down it should come free...

I would advise a very small bit of copper grease around mating surface, when refitting to make it easier if have to remove it again.

yup will do,thanks..... starter is out but now for the bastard bolts.After many many attempts ive had to walk away to regain some mental strength... jesus wept who the fook put them there. If you have ever removed these bolts you are a legend.

It's the bottom one that's a bitch so best tip I can give is remove the 14mm one first that will give you better access to the bastad bolt, you can then loosen it but it will not come right out so loosen it as far as it will go then when every other bolt is out withdraw the box back as far as it will go then loosen it further until it's free from the bell housing.
Once the box is off get an angle grinder and cut it then pull it right out, once you've done that see how far you can throw it as you don't want to put that one back, it's all held in fine without the need for that bolt Wink
