Just studying offset as im interested in working out what offset to use if/when I buy a new set of alloys.

Standard alloys are 14x6J with an offset of et40. So if I got a set with the same offset but are 7j wide then the wheel is gonna stick out an extra 12mm and is also gonna be 12mm closer to the strut. So if I wanted the outer part of the wheel to be in the same position as the original wheel then the offset would be et52.

Is this right?

The lower the et the more it pokes out of the arch .... the higher the et the closer to the strut it is ....

Just thought I would double check as it was late Razz

Now just got to choose a set, seen so many I like and still cant decide which ones and what size to go for. Think I will wait until I start working on it.

That's a good site. I was just thinking about something to fill the wheel arches a bit better on the Rasheen. Not as radical as Bob. Shocked
I've just got to find someone who makes the right size and offset to fit. Cool

Yeah there the same

Nice set of 8'' rims would fit nicely john

I've got some 7 1/2' borbet rims which are 16s from my old track car you can have cheap but they need 2 tyres I think, damned expensive rims are they too

Do you guys think 205/45/16 on a 16x8" rim with approx. +20 offset will fit?

just trying to find some nice wide wheels to fit on. I'm not concerned about them protruding out, just that they wont rub on anything when turning.

Cheers, Monk.

Appreciate the offer Bob but I had in mind to go the other way with 14 or 15 rims and big chunky off road rubber. Shocked For most of the time it will be on bumpy Suffolk back roads and I've still got that set of 17s if I ever want to give the track a go.
Still waiting for the forms from the DVLA so can get it registered. Been over 3 weeks now. Mad

if the wheels protrude from the arches trust me it will rub out every time you go over any kind of bump so really aint a good idea unless you cut existing arches and fit wide ones

Do you know from experience what I can run and still be inside the fenders? I don't have a problem if I have to roll the fenders a bit.

I would say 7.5j you may possibly get away with 215s if you roll the arches

What offset would be necessary for that?

You would need like a 32mm offset but that wouod give you extra 23mm pole towards the arch on 7.5 wide ...
