gearbox !!

Hi All

I am in the process of getting a gearbox ready to put back in my car but want to replace the rubber bit around the gear selector on the box after trying to get it off to put on my new box i broke it !    and today nothing it open as its a bank holiday over here my question is do i have to order just the rubber bit and it will slide into place or does the little metal bit hace to come off to ? heres the photos

The striking rod gaitor is in 2 parts, there is also a convoluted rubber piece that fits to the tube bit thats in your pic. The metal part on the gearbox it fits too is the striking rod seal, they are notoriously difficult to remove and often the only way is punched out from behind, you wont be able to remove it without damaging it so a replacement is probably necessary.

ok thanks the only bit i need is the tube bit as its missing the end bit i have the rest i dont spoose u have the part number do you ?  thanks sam

Just been to nissan and ordered the part 4-5 week wait so won't be on the road anytime soon missed 3 big jap shows this year over here think the whole season is going to be a wipeout this year shame as theres only about 6-7 r 's that I know of over here and I'm pretty much the only one that goes to the shows...
