Hello everyone.

....Now I have spoken to the guys at FR Sport and they gave me also an Easter discount.
The price shipped to Romania will be 136 GBP....which is cheap.

The machinist inspected and verified the crank and told that is like new and spot on.
He told me that he will give the crank a really soft polish.

Therefore please advice if these ACL Bearings will suit my needs.
Please note that these are the prices without shipping.
He's advice wass that will use 100% standard bearings.

These are the H type bearings

These are the HX type bearings

They don't have the Calico coated bearings.

Please help asap guys!

as said before bogdan it depends on the use of the car, boost your running, rev limit ect.
its best to plastigage on a high powered build as journal to bearing clearances are paramount

the hx series are intended for track use where clearances are slightly larger but deffo worth checking with plastigage especially if mapping is on the rich side and using car on circuit where oil temps rise and oil viscosity will thin with fuel mixed with oil, that's when you run the risk of spinning a shell if tolerances are not correct

Bob...I will be using my car on the road....and from time to time drag races..

Therefore the H will be good for me?

P.S. did you made up your mind on the cams?

still not had a chance to fit the head ect or find out what the other cams are that I have, as only me here now so doing everything mysef.
soon as I know il give you a shout promise!

personally if its just mainly for road I think I would go for the H series as temps wont get sky high.
I generally only use hx series if car is out and out circuit car where temps will be raised immensely over a road going car, but check clearances anyway because its not cheap building an engine and you want it to have a fighting chance of survival and youll kick yourself if you don't do the basic checks and it goes boooom!

I never did this plastigauge thing......and I have asked a friend who's a mechanic and he didn't knew also.

Over here we are using a micrometer.

I have seen the video on youtube but I can't understand ....after that plastic string is crushed and you measure it....what do you do with that mesurement?

Please explain....as it seems that I am in the stone age in this country!

And........on acl site it's saying that on HX the tolerance is +0.001''....

That means that the bearing itself is thinner than an H or thicker?

lol
the gauge strip represents the clearance once its crushed with bearing cap torqued up.
you get a chart with it which gives you a clearance band and this shows you if your clearances from journal to bearing are correct and within tolerance, too large or too small.
if too small (which I doubt) you will need larger bearings
if to large you can actually take a bit off the top edges of the bearing to make clearance slightly smaller.
its always best to do the check on top of journal and the side too as the crank maybe slightly ovalled in which case take the smaller reading and work with that.

remember we are talking in thousandths of an inch here so theres not much room for error
