Thinking about getting a cage .

But still need use of the 5 seats .

Can you get a cage that doesn't really get in the way that also doesn't butcher the interior pannels

That's the biggest waste of space cage I think I've ever seen lol, you just as we'll make it out of plastic polypipe for what good it is.

If you want one which keeps stock interior you'll need either a cusco or nismo cage, both you can use rear seats but neither are fia approved for any Motorsport event but they will help should you roll the car but there aren't many around now so you maybe better off buying some tubing and making your own cage tbh
Will be cheaper too

Pipe benders are a fair bit of money especially going bigger sizes although you can get the hydraulic type for aroud 160 but these can kink the pipe alternatives like packing it with sand while bending helps .... obviously you have a welder places like custom cages use mig welders for buzzing it together so no need to get a tig .... its actually quite intresting few vids on youtube of custom cages doing a cage to do the main hoop they cut holes in the floor pan and drop the cage down so they can weld the top pieces ...

ive heard you shouldnt use a cage and back seats if your going to have passengers, there was a story about how a car crashed with people in the back and they got seriously mashed head injuries because of the cage, i was considering it aswell but decided against it after reading up about it, especially if you have kids in the car

that's very true, but guess you could give all your passengers a hard hat  Laughing
the cages that allow for rear seats to be retained run just below headlining with no cross pieces so the only way your gonna bash your head open is if they are not wearing a seat belt

theres lots of things you should and shouldn't do though such as wearing harnesses with no rollcage, picking your nose or scratching your arse or eating cream cakes lol
its all just common sense really

Like you say "common sense" . Can add padding to help protect occupants.
Insurance will need know too as will be invalid the split second the insurance companies accident & vehicle inspection engineer sends in the vehicle report if not.
Problem with cages is to be any huge benefit you need a decent effort such as Bobs old track car plus occupants need correct harnesses etc.

I have a full cage with all the trim still in place,,,,but the rear seats are foulded down.. Very Happy
But saying that a cage can easily be built with all the trim and rear seats still in pace, like most things it just takes time, planning a good welder and money.

these http://www.cuscousainc.com/products/roll-cage/safety-21-rollcage.html show various designs and talk about "retains rear interior & enables passengers", so any design can be made to accommodate, just up too your imagination really.
