Starlet all the way, cant beat abit of FWD boost = fun & they don't cost a lot to get up to 300 ponies... Also as said they aint shy going up against pulstart's  Shocked

GT4's you have to spent a fortune on them to get them running quick, & there nowhere near as brutal as the R.

Scoobys are to common, there like citreon saxo's... Every other next door neighbour owns 1... No offence Stu Wink

GT4 because the other two are both shit, The build quality of the GT4 is far superior in every aspect, Yes they take a bit of work to get them working well but still a much better car, No where near as fast as a good pulsar but still very good cars with a proper rally pedigree.

Knew gaz would go for the starlet as he is still a kid.

I really like the GT4 - its a good looking car

In fact, for me it was a 2 hourse race between a GT4 and a GTIR when i was choosing my 1st Jap car (around 10 years ago now)

I looked closely at both - but feel in love with the Pulsar and at the time you could get more for your money with the GTIR - but both 4 wheel drive - 2L Turbo and tunable for good power it was a close decision.

Wouldn never complian after years of fun in the R - but for a second Jap car i dont see why not !

no contest gt4 all the way
Toyota reliability, build quality, very good driving position (feel like your in the car and part of it)
not the fastest but can be extremely rapid with a few quid chucked at it

and they still look good

Subaru's are incredibly well built too.
Is a very good reason why so popular and that due to being practical, reliable as well as good fun to drive.
Indeed popularity makes it a bit boring & the GT4 is quite a looker & as said with bit of work & money not slow.
Would assume a good GT4 would hold a bit more future value too & has some great rally pedigree so maybe less money down the drain long term ...
Out of those 3 GT4 is by far the more interesting car & I could love looking at it as well as driving it.

Nice reply mate, Apart from the Subaru reliability bit lol, I had a brand new 08 STi and it last less than 2k before the ring lands went pop  Rolling Eyes

I can't be the only one who'd prefer a yob wagon  Embarassed
Certainly not a standard old one, 95 tuned to around 500 would be adequate or a standard 2011 saloon STi

Wouldn't dream of driving/owning the others.

I would go impreza but 2door type R version Wink

If I can remember correctly from when I was younger (my dad was a car tader and petrol head) the gt4s were just not as exiting as the likes of cossies and gtirs, I don't know why because on paper there's nothing in them but I just can't remember the gt4 being as ferocious as the R or a cossie but don't hold me to it because I am going back some years to when I was just a ill nipper Haha

I know this opinion is about as much use as a fart in a jacuzzi but I would choose a pulsar over the cars you mentioned but then I would say that lol.

Gt4 is defiantly the best looking
Impreza (depending on model) is the best car
I would imagine starlet would be the most fun and cheapest to mod

Yes have some issues on pistons & head-gaskets on certain engine models & years but overall they are bloody well built for the money you pay, I worked for Fuji Heavy Industries for good 8yrs & done work on production plants in Japan & have owned & worked on my own Subarus & my Dads & really do admire the engineering that goes into them. Some of the best 180,000 mile clocked engines & transmissions i've seen on used cars have been subaru's. Lot of imprezas get hammered hard & run on a budget so for sure you here a few bad tales, same story with Pulsars really, the constant bashing on reliability is only from a small group of extreme owners or people winging at a 25yr old atlernator failing :-/
still go for the GT4 though :-)
