Falling out of love with my pulsar fast n only just had it over a month, it's just to slow I can barely pull away from my bro's golf 1.8T 193hp

Mines not standard has the following

greddy fmi
mongoose exhaust
uprated leads
ngk plugs 8's
z32 maf
560cc injectors
huge filter
remapped ecu running 15psi so tad over 1bar
exedy stage 2 clutch
tubular manifold

tein ss coilovers
ksport 8pots

ect ect don't know wether to go for more power or just sell up

Have you had it on a decent dyno ? A 200 ish golf will be quick once rolling etc

It should really pull away running a bar of boost!

No was set up on the road, I expected a lot more from the R though

get a bigger turbo?

mine with its gt2871r pulled away comfortably from a porsche 911 carrera 4s in 3rd and 4th gear.

the problem you have is once rolling the golf will have advantage being 2wd over 4wd.

Was thinking maybe bigger turbo but could do with a forged engine really to make the most of a bigger turbo

it would be cheaper to sell up and buy a faster one, you only have to add up the costs... i spent many thousands on my last one.

Yup that's what I was thinking although if I do sell I wouldn't buy another pulsar lol

Still dousnt sound right that? id say there an underlying fault somewhere as you should be eating a 200bhp golf, with the mods you have as golfs there not fast atall.

Agree with beau , no point putting A larger turbo if you have issues elsewhere .

I personally would pressure test the intake and check for leaks, leak down test and get it to a guy like edd to check the map on a dyno .

Compression is good, don't think it has any boost leaks as it holds 15psi all the way to the redline, but yea agree something just doesn't seem right

The only thing that does need sorting is the manifold to turbo (4bolt) gasket is blowing quite bad I've got all new gaskets just haven't sorted it yet, would this affect performance much?

doesnt sound right at all that gasket leaking will not help at all and get it mapped on the dyno Wink

You can buy my R 330bhp at 1bar on an almost standard tubby Shocked

Tempted to sell and buy a more practical car as running an evo and the R is expensive

Like I said if I sold mine I just don't think I'd buy another R

think thats bad... try running a maserati and a pulsar :p

hence im also going to find a more practical car Smile

just had loads of time wasters on my car atm Sad keep getting offered part exchanges that owners think are worth about twice what they really are!

something wrong with it if you cant get away from a 200hp golf, there not slow but you should easily take that out at a bar boost

I'm gonna sort the gasket out, it's weeping a very slight bit of gearbox oil from somewhere then gonna have the map checked

stop been wet spend some cash on it you ever drove one over 300 bhp ? get your gasket fixed and put it on rollers see what power your running etc then decide

Not a pulsar over 300 but my last s13 had 382bhp and 322 Ib ft of torque n that was just unreal

Yes as the turbo is not getting all of the exhaust gas, it may hit 15psi but might not be till later in the rev range than usual?

well my other pulsar off the road at the min running 319 and 320ft lb left neighbours evo at 380 bhp then he took his to 400 and beat me top end but my R was way more fun to drive than his evo

what a bag of shit, your R must be pretty sick to be outdone by that Laughing Laughing
Get it looked at have you done a fault check on it see if its pulling anything up like the det sensor, it could be a whole number of things but even a standard R is pretty quick if you know how to drive
