I know its not a Nissan but just thought some of you who I know are into their classics would be interested.

So after making a fatal error when fitting a new carb and running the engine with a washer in the inlet Embarassed it was time to take the engine apart for a rebuild!

Striped to its component parts

Nice build mate. So what exactly is it you're building there, 1380, 1310cc? That cam looks interesting as well, scatter pattern or just 'wild'?  Smile

My a-series has been sitting in the garage fully built up and ready to go in the mini for a few months now. I stupidly decided to refurb the front suspension before putting it in but still haven't finished yet!
I've got a gearbox like that too, sounds f'kin mean when you wind it up  Very Happy

Its a 1430 lump should be good for around 150 horses.

Not sure about the cam myself. Someone far more knowledgable did that bit. Will be horrible until around 1800rpm but rev to 8500 / 9000!!

Yes, straight cut gears sound awesome....

My one's a 1330cc with a 286° cam. Same roller rockers as you too. The old engine was a Morspeed supercharged lump (spits on ground) with the straight cut box. You could literally hear it from a mile away  Twisted Evil

Years ago I had a 1380cc with a minisport race head (still in the garage) sporting a 296° cam...that used to come on cam about 3.5/4 k rpm and was quite brutal about it too. Quite funny as it had an unpainted GRP flip front and standard steel wheels on it and looked like a shed :p

Nice, I had a 296 in it before the re build and as you say, a bit brutal!
looking forward to getting this in and on track!
Been there as well with the grp front....funny
