Hi all
Last year I've won engine in bits and I'm slowly building it now

spec so far

JE pistons + Je rings
standard block
good condition balanced crank
Acl bearings mains and big end + thrust washers
Arp rod bolts
new genuine oil and water pumps
new genuine chain kit
brian crower stage 2 cams (264 deg 12.06mm lift)
need to get cosworth 1.5mm head gasket and some valve seals etc

The plan is to bolt gt2871r with am performance elbow and downpipe and run it at 1 bar

So far I've plastigauged mains they all came out 0.05 - 0.03mm
I've measured big ends - 48.46mm on all cylinder but can't check conrods cos my verniers are bit crap (small  jaws are not parallel)
measured my valve springs 47.6 - 47.9mm (not sure what it should be) apparently standard springs are ok for those cams but I'd get some springs later on

I was wondering if any one here has done exhaust port matching and exhaust manifold porting and has got any pics... as I'm planning to that as well

Oh cool but tbh I don't want to go that far by myself I'm just thinking to match ports to gasket not going to dividers...

will be doing pete lestas head myself this week and porting a stock manifold aswell.
Just open the ports around 1mm don't do inner part other than a de burr and polish as will affect running ( very lumpy on idle and partial throttle) and possibly make it worse than stock Wink
On the inlets just de burr the cast marks and do not open them as will affect the atomisation of air/fuel in cylinders

I don't rly want to do much with inlets as i know there is loads to fuck up and inlets are bloody long but i might just smooth it down little bit... So don't go more than 1mm on head and manifold?? Any way could you take few pics while you be porting... Thanks mate

Yep il take some pics for you Mike, but please bare in mind that porting / flowing is a skilled job and has to be done correctly to get the right results
so a Bob armed with a dremmel and grinding bits is a dangerous thing Laughing
So with that in mind it's only a lick over and de burr il be giving it and just opening front part of ports (exhaust) 1mm, nothing more. Il be matching stock manifold to suit

Anyone reading this as bob mentioned it's very skilled job as it's not a case of more is better I can get professional ported items inc manifold's done by a top builder who dose all kind of cars but really made his name in the French Peugeot scene and now also dose kit cars for people all over the world inc race drivers. He is based Scottish boarders but postage is possible. Maybe a group buy sure price was around £85 for a manifold but it's a boring time consuming job to do yourself not as easy as it looks manifokd's are strong  but it's a job really worth doing. If anyone is interested pm but don't hijack this thread anymore than I already have

Thanks for info guys. That is the plan not to go too deep in to ports on head but i would open bastard more than 1mm so good info I defo won't touch head with any cutting bits only those emery cloth like. Now how deep i want to go in to manifold and what bottle brush like stuff would there be available to reach that deep?? I can find something on e bay but everything is us only.... duh (i can see some adult store stuff coming my way lol! )
