Well its finished...she's runs! But we managed to blow the clutch Master and Slave cylinder getting fuel lol...only a minor glitch in the grand scheme of things. So depending on parts arrival and fitting etc....we may turn up at jap feast on a trailer )

How hard are the parts to fit out of curiosity?

Clutch master is the hardest because of its location .....(behind the plenum) slave is easy as its ontop of the gearbox ...

do you need to take anything out to get to them or just patients?

Patience is big help on master along with completely removing the fork before working it out of bulkhead, can also remove front mount so engine tilts forward (may not be option for you as front of bay not got much clearance).
Both parts should be next day possible, ICP or decent car factors.

^yeh unlikely. but deffo do both & think about doing new hose too.
anyone pulling an engine these days & still having an original/unknown looking master should bang in a new one, at 20+ years they close to junk & mixing in heavier clutches on these old parts is either instant or future trouble/breakdowns ...

Yes totally agree anything hoses seals etc well anything should work on little areas or as something fails remove it clean the area rust treat grease it replace old nuts bolts and do the same on the other side. Take time with all wires and as you say if the engine is coming out consider what you can future prof while its out. As said everything you up rate of renew weakens a different area. But I am not saying don't do it.

Well it was awesome making it to japfest...the build seemed to go down well. Nice to meet everyone from the club finally too.

I asked after him at the meet at Santa Pod no one really knew,

Hello peep's i'm still about ) Just been busy at work...new Girl friend...1 year old baby boy on the loose. As for the R...all tucked away safe lol...She all run in ready to running....just need to do the master cylinder which will cure the clutch issue and then finally map her. My plan is to be on the car show map next year for the whole year....it just got to rushed this year in the end. See you all soon.

Hey boys and girls.....well we are back. Pulled the covers off the beast. Friend coming over on Sat to bleed the clutch...hopefully just to driver it a few miles to his garage where he can change out the master cylinder for me. Finally we can map her....aiming to be at Japfest finished
