driving in third on boost the boom. car started brick walling. and heard a pop. black smoke. thought shit there goes turbo.car lost power and idle was trying to die. just about got home. flipped the lid to find intercooler pipe had come off. put it back in place. engine starts up. no black smoke. but isle still wants to die. thinks its thrown up a fault again.
went into limp mode.

Black smoke is car massively over fuelling which they do if a boost pipe pops off

Not quite sure why, but mine did exact same thing and changing the spark plugs fixed it...

Why did the boost pipe pop off? Not tightened or crap clamps?

If small weak clamps get some bigger stronger ones like mikalor.

Everyone should have decent clamps on the boost pipes especially when running a big turbo and more boost, but some people will spend big money on making the car go faster but neglect the smaller things that are just as important.

Can't a boost pipe popping off a car with a ball bearing turbo damage the turbo?

I've tighten up everything. Idle is better. Now got a misfire. Spoke to ajay on the blower who was a great help. Tomorrow clamps and spark plugs required
