Hi all am thinking about taking an engine out of one pulsar and puting it
in another, any advice or tips would be great or is the a thread anywhere
on here i have missed.
Basically things like leaving gearbox on or off well doing the engine swap.
Any advice would be great.
Cheers dan

Take out as a complete unit mate, engine gearbox and transfer box. I know most people drop the engine from under the car as its a big lump.

As said above, gets bread basket if you can and lower the engine onto that before undoing the engine mounts.

Hat you need to do is this.

Put front end of car on axle stands.
Remove wheels, running gear and driveshafts etc.
Remove the exhaust and prop shaft and gear linkage.
Then put the bread basket under the engine and lower the whole car down until the engine is resting on the basket.
Then undo everything around the engine in the engine bay.
Plugs, afm, engine mounts and stabilisers...
Then carefully raise the car leaving the engine behind.

As above really..... most of the engine wiring is just unplug from the drivers side as you can see in johns picture .... only thing i can add is undo the front hubnuts while its still on the floor then or just disconnect the abs sensors undo the caliper and front arb drop links then unbolt wishbone mounts undo the three nuts on top of the strut then you can drop engine gearbox with suspension with it says abit more time lol

If you remove the bonnet it looks like you only need lift the car front about 3ft, so you could do it in the garage. Only saying this as I want to remove mine over the winter and it's warm in the garage lol, is there any reson the backs also on ramps? Was this just to make more access??

Yes, Leighton's right. The chain drops straight down to the cross member. I put a block of 4x2 under the cross member to spread the load. It's a bit more tricky if you've got the aircon rad in place but it still works.
The ramps are just for more space while I'm disconnecting underneath.
Diff view on another car....

There are no tips really just slide it back underneath then lower the car so it drops onto the mounts
Always do the gearbox rear mount first then the front then finally the main front engine mount
