After seeing BEBB'S almera gti in a recent post got me thinking about what cars around now will be a classic in the future .
After looking on ebay i really think the ALMERA GTI is a contender . There is only one on ebay at the mo and it's a non runner
The obvious like Focus RS etc are bound to be .
But what cars do you lot think will be collectable in years to come ?

The clip v6 will be a future classic, I would already say its a modern classic. Maybe other versions of the Clio might become valuable in the future, i belive only 2200 172 cups were made (although that may just be RHD) and the 182 trophy were numbered. Obviously the old Williams will be worth something in the years to come.

VW vr6's I imagine will become hard to find and valuable.

I think the fiat 500 maybe a new future classic because it's such a quirky little shape

I have noticed the jap classics creeping up in valve (evo, impreza, skyline, rx7, supra etc etc)

What about the good old land rover defender, apparently they will be stopping production soon because the shape of the landy dosent meet crash safety requirements.

And of course all the bargain super cars that cost the manufacturers more to make than what they sell them for. We are in an automotive golden age and if you had the money cars like bughatti vayrons and zonda's are a no brainer for a future investment, soon they will stop making cars like this and if you could buy them now I'm sure they can only go up in value because the likes of these ultimate super cars will never be seen again

I think there will be quite a few future classics for the future trouble is alot of the newer cars a so mass produced now not like the good old days but i would take a guess with youngsters writing them off and crashing and breaking them will help lol .

I had a Bluebird ZX turbo a few years ago. Rented a lock up off of the council, but had another car inside, so parked the ZX infront of the garage door. The local little bastards put all the windows through and dossed in it. I ended up scrapping the thing :-( Ive regeretted it ever since!

because they are aleady classics...
most 90 and and 80 sporty cars will be classics. more rated if they have been issued in limited editions...like the celica GT4 carlos sainz edition for exemple

Agree with Fred on the limited run sporty cars, here's a couple of examples I know off the top of my head

Clio 172 exclusive (172 made)
Clio 182 trophy (500 made)
Honda civic vti-s (200 made)
Impreza terzo edition (300 made)
Other rare models of Impreza will be seen as classics too (type r, rb5, p1, 22b, type ra, uk 300 etc)
The evo extreme models and the tommy makinen editions
Honda civic type r and aniversery and premier editions

Here's a few more you might not expect

Golf gttdi anniversary edition (along with many other models of golf)
Beatle RSI
Peugeot 306 convertible

There are a lot of older cars I have not mentioned because I already consider them to be classics

I think there will be a lot of over looked future classics, For example we all know the 205 GTI will be a future classic but not many people think about the 309 GTI and that will become a very rare car indeed, didn't Peugeot do a 405 with that mi16 engine in? The engines fetch a fortune so I'm sure the car it came from will be worth a bob or two lol
