RO_SUNNY

Hi Guys/Ladies,

Recently (yesterday) I have started in working on an Honda Civic with an B20 Vtec engine.

This is how it all began.....front facing manifold ( equal length )

yep you certainly are a great welder and fabricator bogdan as said in the past
wish I had half of your talents with a tig and fabbing skills.

Nice work bogdan .....what filler rods and amperage do you use ....do you use  pure argon or a mix ?

Yep, as all, Awesome work it's a real artwork youve done here....i hope to see your elbow's and your GTiR turbo manifold very soon.... Very Happy

RO_SUNNY

RO_SUNNY

Elbows are almost done Fred....and the manifold fabrication will start in a couple of days.

Nomad...

On stainless, aluminium, titanium, inconel..... tig welding all you need is 99.99% argon gas otherwise your welds will look like crap.
Filler rod I use 1.6mm and 2.4mm depending on the application.
Amps may vary due to the fact that it depends on the temperatures/material thickness and so on.....mainly around 50 amps....but as I said it depends.
For example if you are moving fast with dipping the filler than you can use a higher amp setting.....if you are moving slow you will need a small amperage.

Thanks for that ...... what grade rods do you use ...... as im just getting together all the bits to start tig welding  so its very useful to have other opinions on parts ..... ive just bought a sip dc tig 200 amp  so should be more than effiecant for hobby use .

RO_SUNNY

RO_SUNNY

for 304 stainless I am using 316 filler rod.

Downpipe done!

Please don't be very critic with the downpipe welds.....the wall thickness is only 1 mm in order to make it as light as possible.....and I am not used to weld this thicknesses:(

What! If i could weld that well i would show everybody. Probably take it down the pub too

RO_SUNNY

RO_SUNNY

I will drop a P.M.

But now let me present the finished manifold.....the welds are so grey due to the fact that I thought that I had poor argon in my bottle but....it seems that I have a leak which was contaminating my argon.
....No problems anyway because it will be acid dipped:)))))))))))and the grey colour will dissapear

With the eqaul length does it keep the turbo in stock position ....?

RO_SUNNY

RO_SUNNY

The Turbo is front facing.....therefore the turbo inlet is directly at approx 20 mm's behind the intercooler:)))

Or you meant for the GTIR???

If so this is equal length stock position!

The mounting flange looks very warped if that bench is flat, That will take some machining flat.

The manifold looks nice though.

Rob

RO_SUNNY

RO_SUNNY

The Flanges were machined flat after this photos were taken....and by the way...the manifold is in the UK....and the guy who owns it is very happy with it!

..............more HOnda

Acid dipped........it looks quite nice in my opinion.

I wasn't saying it wasn't a good manifold more noting how much the heat affects the flange during the welding proses, I knew you machined the flanges mate.

The Honda manifold looks fab fitted mate, Personally I'd ceramic coat it to stop it getting rusty or tainted by the heat but that's just me.

Rob

RO_SUNNY

RO_SUNNY

Yeah mate.....

I did not get upset...I was just trying to explain!

It depends on the application...but if you hold it tight into a jig the flanges will not warp....but that depends on how tight the bends are!
