Well been planing on getting a decent gearbox built up,was set on going full quaife gearset route but seeing pete gearbox thread, looking at par dog box being a viable option,am now considering going dogbox too.
was wondering will the dogbox handle 450bhp and similar torque too? how noisey are they? what are they like to use on a regular basis? can they handle launch control
can i use the same standard forks?

thanks zia

There are 2 different models of PAR gearbox, both of which use straight cut gears, one is synchromesh, which uses the stock shift forks (unless you opt for their billet 3/4 fork), or they also offer a true dog box, which includes their shift forks necessary for dog engagement.

Yes, straight cut gears are inherently noisier, but it's not too objectionable and if you keep your stock 5th gear and final drive gear, it won't be that bad. (They do offer both of these in straight cut as an option). The biggest benefit to straight cut gears and non-tapered shaft bearings, is reduction or elimination of axial forces in the gearset. Axial forces is what launches countershafts out the back of the gearcase. That's the drawback to helical cut gears, such as Quaife. They're quiet, but don't really solve the problems that the stock gearset has, other than being slightly stronger.
