Fuelling issue

Hello everyone.

I new to this forum so thank you for any help that I get.

I have a Nissan Pulsar GTI R that is being built to use on track. The car runs and drives but is lacking in power low down which seems to be a fuelling issue.

I will apologise now as I am not a car guy. At the moment the car has a standard pump for the after market fuel tank, and then a secondary high pressure pump filling the swirl pot. This was all done prior to me getting the car.

My question is, whats the best fuel pump to be using and is the current fuel set up totally wrong.

could very well be a knock sensor fault (code 34)

You checked the timing. ?
What spec is the car standard Ecu etc what boost you running ?

I have looked for fault codes but there is nothing showing.

Timing seems ok.

I'm sure its something to do with having the wrong fuel pump and pressure but i don't know whats best to fit.

Install a tee-piece with a pressure gauge fitted to it on the rubber fuel line from fuel filter to fuel rail (inside engine bay obviously).
Base fuel pressure should be 3bar at idle with the vacuum line disconnected from fuel pressure regulator. If fuel pressure is within a couple of psi of this then its probably not too far off the mark...
It won't cost you much at all but could tell you instantly if somethings not right with the pump set up.
BTW, buy a decent gauge and not one of the crappy £10 jobs off ebay.

Oh, have you checked for boost leaks yet? Every R has at least one or two, the fun is trying to find & fix them while retaining skin on your hands! Its the R's gift that keeps on giving
