headlight issue

My passenger headlight stopped working.
Checked the new bulbs and they are fine.
Main beam and sidelights work fine.
Checked fuses and they are fine.
Replaced the plug and still nothing.
Pulled the fuse box off the inner wing and checked under the fuses and nothing wrong.
All the wiring looks okay.
Put a wire accross from the driverside live feed and the passenger side works fine.
So its definitely the passenger side live feed.
Anyone had to trace that wire before?
Wondering if its a ball ache taking the loom off and stripping it back to find where the break in the wire is?

Was going to say if you were stuck run one from the other side to get you away.

Strange it's one wire only to have snapped. ( it happens but further back in loom less likely)

I will have to strip the loom back and see how far I need to go back to replace the wire that's broken I guess.

The bridge wire will do for now tho.
Wait for another dry day lol

Just continuity test it stu do you have an electric tester?

I havent got a multimeter or the like Leighton.
I will buy one so I can check everything.

Yeah they can be a very useful thing to have in you toolbox ..... and will easy diagnose your wiring problem plenty of them in ebay you can get more car specific ones also ...

Or argos . Maplins . Screwfix ...

Just make sure it does continuity test aswell as it comes in handy ....

I will purchase one

All you need is a lightbulb a piece of wire with crocodile clip long enough reach battery earth and test area and a nice pointy screw, nail or wire to make a quick diy test light which super handy for power side testing .
first thing do is quick test for power at the LH 15amp fuse that feeds to the column light switch (although this obviously should be fine as it feed main beam also and that works but good be 120% sure power is being fed from fusebox)
2nd thing do is quick test of power at dip power wire to back of headlight (they normally play up right near the plug if wiring) and give that wire a bit of visual check and wiggle test.
3rd thing test is the column switch * and this is what I expect it likely be if headlight and car wiring not been butchered by previous owners *
LH one tends always be column switch issue (burnt switch contacts) if plug wiring at headlamp in good order and high beam works .
Don't rely too much on continuity testing switch power side circuits, while continuity is super useful it quicker diagnose stuff like yours on power side with a test light first as super fast and cheap plus a circuit best tested under load as it can show continuity yet not handle required current .

I will give it a check over again tomorrow if its dry and pop put and buy a cheap circuit tester.

If it's wet you could jump to step 3 quite quickly and work out of rain from drivers seat.
How you guys put up with all that rain is beyond me, you must have skin like a waxed jacket and feet like a duck lol ...
