Right, started my car for the first time today, with no exhaust so sounded rough!
As it started to warm up the oil pressure rose very quickly up to almost 8 on the standard gauge. I quickly turned it off.
Car is standard engine etc just with one bar loop. Thanks everyone

thats not uncommon tom, could be the gauge is out.
many cars run 8bar from cold which drops off once engine starts to warm up.
once its warm it should be around 2-3 bar at idle some are abit more some are less dependant upon how accurate the gauge and sensor are

Oh right, I have another gauge cluster so I'll try that.
Thing was I spoke to orange pulsar lee and he said his starts at four then goes down!
How do I know of its ok? When I reaches full temp is should drop? Or should it drop as it gets higher

It drops as the oil temp rises because the oil gets thinner the hotter it gets.

I think mine starts at about 6 then drops as it warms up

mine doesn't go below 4 and usually runs at 7bar

Sadly it's not the gauges. Car has built up so much pressure it's blow the oil seal out the oil pump and is now pissing oil down from behind the bottom pulley. Not good

Sticky pressure relief valve in the pump, sump off ( Ali part too) ,pulley off, remove bolt for relief valve, pull out spring and shims, remove plunger/ piston with needle nose pliers, clean refit, and fit new crank seal and shim that goes behind it......easy.

Is this a common thing then dan maybe for engines that have been stood around for a while?

yes it depends on how long the engines been left sitting without being turned over as things dry out and can stick
especially piston rings
stem seals can dry out and perish, infact any oil seal can be at risk of damage.
an old remedy used to be by adding some brake fluid to engine oil as this will swell rubbers if they dry out but it obviously wont repair cracked seals or free off stuck rings etc.

as dan said above tom and as explained on phone, its not a huge job to do this with engine in situ
