!!!thinking of doing your own engine build!!!
or have any technical questions you need answered then fire away in this section.
most engine builds are fairly easy to undertake providing you have a good understanding of how an engine works, are handy with the spanners, and have a good engineering company at hand!

were here to help you if you get stuck with anything

ok guys heres a list of the parts youll need.
please bare in mind this is for fast road / light track use, not for a huge power drag engine

ideally if possible stick to stock bore size forged pistons (we use 86mm cp's) but upto 87mm rebore is ok
cosworth 1.1mm or thicker gasket dependant upon whether head and block have been refaced and compression ratio you wish to run
arp rod bolts
new oil pump
chain and tensioners dont normally wear but pays to thoroughly check them before ordering
youll need all new seals including valve stem seals
quality sealant such as loctite or tigerseal
rc gasket
water pump
stock head bolts (bolts can be reused but you need to check for stretch) if the engines never been touched before chances are that the headbolts will be fine!
acl bigend and main bearings
thrust washers (nissan shells are fine but are graded to every crank)
stock rods are fine to use (with arp rod bolts fitted)
crank needs to be thoroughly checked (il only use std size cranks) .25 grind should be ok but i would still rather use a straight unground crank....especially if cars going on track or running big power

thats basically all youll need
theres a bit more to it than that though like all machining work involved, checking valves and guides, shim clearances, oil squirters / oilways etc so once you weigh all those costs in it certainly isnt cheap to undertake even if you do your own build.

this build will be fine to run in excess of 400bhp

If I got all parts and block machined how much would you charge to just assemble?

Hi all
I've got couple questions
First this was probably asked many times but is chain kit same like other sr20det sr20de and are out there any good kits or genuine only??
second is oil pump...Can it be rebuild?? I've found this http://www.rhdjapan.com/nissan-oem-oil-pump-rotor-set-54c00.html and was wondering is this any good solution or waste of cash

tbh I would only use a genuine chain and tensioner kit from Nissan, they are not that expensive to buy and only a fraction dearer than patent parts. any sr20det chain and tensioner is ok to use

with regard to oil pump rotor kits..............it really does depend on whether the mating faces of the pump covers are scored as to whether youll be able to get away with a rotor kit.
personally I would not want to take the gamble on your new engine because if it fails then you will destroy the crank and end up with a whole heap of heartache and expense.
for around £200-250 you can import a complete pump assembly I would go for that if I were you

ok il drop you a pm later today or tomorrow as bit busy at ther mo

if your running circa 400bhp I would definitely recommend forged pistons so will base the price on that
