Alarm systems...

Stickers on my wondow.... Probabaly not enough to put some turd off trying to steal my hard earned toy so even though it says cobra on it, im going to guess that now a days its pretty much past its sell by date along with the fact I couldnt see any sign of one.

Do any of you fine gents happen to know of the top rated thatcham approved alarms that will help keep my car safe. I wanted to go down the route of electricute the bastards with several thousand volts but apparently with kids in the culdisac im not allowed I would have thought that was more of a reason than any lol

I had a quick google search but it eaither brings up old PDF's for outdated alarms or installers, ill keep looking but any help would be good.

a good option is a battery isolator especially if its a good quality one and you can remove the switch
still be able to steal it but its unlikely most car thieves would bring the required wire to bypass it ect

You can only use that option if you dont want an alarm though and you central locking wont work either .......not saying its a shit idea by all means ...

Hidden small switch controlling relay for ecu power or earth is very good, I done this on all my cars as super cheap & will stop or seriously slow down any chance of car being driven away.

I would only bother with cat installed alarm if get decent discount on insurance cost, if not you best buying something yourself & doing nice install yourself.
Main issue with cat alarms is any decent car thief knows most models wiring plug layout plus installers tend follow same install routines (cat guidelines) making it yet even easier so once find ecu brain it takes five minutes cut & loop required wires.
Autowatch done decent quality alarm & few other you can buy easily & quite cheap.
If can't install yourself cat1 are quite reasonable on cost these days .
Certainly worth doing something though .

You can't beat a disclock

Clifford g5 here thats set to make loud chirps should anything remain close for 1.5 seconds but it's hard to steal a car with no wheels on a 35 degree drive

Also disklock, block it in etc...

Its the isurance side of things as well to be honest as the discount for me is around 150 quid a year for a thatcham catagory 1 so it pays for itself in a year or 2 and peace of mind for securing my Car, as well as my own mod for keeping her safe

I have this same alarm. Anti hyjack on it also.
I also have disk lock and gearstick lock.
Anything that makes it harder or take longer is a good thing.

cat1 has got pretty cheap compared to 8 to 10 years ago plus microwave, ultrasonic & shock sensors are far better in general.
another extra sneaky mod or lock always a good thing, I like easy & quick though so soon get tired of gear lever & wheel locks .

I dont want loads of hassle but I would consider popping some kind of extra ecu cut off or something along those lines, If iM going to get an alarm it needs to be a decent one.

Friend of mine had a hidden switch which switched off the pump and left the fuel gauge on empty.
His view was that when the car sputtered to a stop after a few yards they'd abandon it, assuming it had run out of fuel, rather than do a lot of damage trying to overcome other security stuff.

Snap off steering wheels are good too plus a few cheaper brands are available

Snap off steering wheels, I dont know to be honest as im sure they are still spline and boss based so one could in theory simply check it out and see what it needs and come back with a couple of cheap steering wheels ??
