Anyone know anything about mr2 twin turdos?

Ive got a freind whos MR POO set at 1bar of boost & its started overboosting & is now going into limp mode when it hits 2000rpm? Checked vac lines & boost hoses & all seem ok? any ideas any1?

Have you tried fault code the ecu gaz?

Its same sort of procedure with shorting out the pins its been a long time since i worked on one so cant remember wich ones it was il see if i can find a sticky for ya bud Very Happy

He said he has and it came up with det secor so he changed it for a new 1 & still doing it?, ive not actuaqly looked at it, im looking at it on sunday for him, just trying to get a few ideas, i personaly think its something or nothing like a vac pipe but he said he checked them all? ill double check them tho.

Well my first guess would of been the det sensor has it got an aftermarket boost controller if its overboosting maybe the soleniod faulty?

Manuel boost controller, ill connect it strait from actuator to inlet on sunday & see if i can get standard boost.

i will sate the thing no one wants to read and i hope its not but by turning the boost up he has not caused det and its picking up knock ?

Thats what im thinking & im not sure what fuel hes running it on Shocked Ill put boost back to standard & see on sunday. & going to ring a speacialis tomorrow & see what they say.

gaz dose he know when fitting a new knock sensor to slack or to tight both cause faulse knock ?

Ahh right whats the torque setting or is it different for every car?

dont think there is one as such mate but the common thing i have seen is people tightening them way to tight. i honestly can not say how much difference it makes but been told it can affect it alot

I stripped a xe engine today to sell all the bits n bobs ie the knock sensor was pretty much just nipped up took very little effort to undo with a rachet i would say it was no more than 15-20 nm
