any local bearing shop will have them too, if getting from icp check what make they are as they supplying optimal brand a lot these days & that all made in china & while ok japan quality brands can be had for same money or just a few pound more.

R failed it's MOT on handbrake (which i knew it would) and front wheel bearing.
Found this one at ICP and looks good value
http://importcarparts.co.uk/parts-info.asp?id=1442

These look like double (back to back) tapers, so you don't have worry about setting pre-load.
Is it just a simple case of pulling of the old bearing, and pressing in the new, then tightening up the end nut? study

Also is it worth doing both sides at same time?

I wouldnt say its essential to do both sides at the same time really its not like shocks and springs etc .... if you wanted to do it for piece of mind you could but dont reckon its that crutial niel ...

Hey Neil did it fail on play or being rough?
If it's just a play try to tighten up hub nut

Excessive play Mike,
The picture looks  like the bearings don't separate, so I've bought 2 new ones from ICP for £60
Just looked a bit more into it and i think they do separate, eg outer race and rollers, so yes i could prob nip them up.
I'll try that this weekend as it sounds like a quick fix.

Sometimes for some magical reasons hub nut can get slightly loose... Especially on bloody Renault and blasting them with airgun is enough. But there again 60 quid doesn't require a kidney sale...

Undo hub nut make sure drive shaft isnt siezed in hub Remove caliper hang up on strut with cable tie undo track rod end and lower ball joint undo two strut bolts then you got the whole assembley off on the backside you will see a dust cover remove that and should see snap ring remove then its ready to be pressed out....

Or if your doing with a push/pull puller style tool you can leave it all attached minus the caliper there is just enough room to pull the shaft out and do it all in place .... as i did mine .

Thanks Leighton,
I read your guide on replacing CV joints, that was a great write up btw.
I only have a small bearing puller, not a press so I'll have to take it to work Very Happy

So i managed to remove the bearing (or most of it) however an inner race stayed stuck on the shaft!
The gap is too small for a bearing puller. I tried heating it but just burnt my hand Evil or Very Mad
Will I have to grind this off? scratch

I do... At work I've go air chisel so I'm only making small diagonal cut and shock it till it'll crack... You could try to cut it fairly deep and wack it with hammer and chisel...

Just grind/cut 2 slots in lower race lip for a 2 leg puller or use a bearing separator clamp .
You can grind it at a diagonal and chisel or gas axe it too if no pullers available .
