glad i wasnt in the gtir

well monday turned out to be very eventfull for all the wrong reasons, glad i wasnt in the R, well i was at work taking a client out for a drive when round near where we were was a ford(shallow river crossing!!) me being in a ford escort , can to the t-junction which leads to the ford and i saw it was a couple of inches deep there but as i wasnt really paying that much attention i decided to go down towards the ford after all it cant be all that deep can it??... well it turns out a mk6 ford escort doesnt swim too well and the ford indeed does get very deep to the tune of around 3.5-4ft deep but still testament to the old girl she survived some how even though she got totally flooded inside and out she still managed to start and pull herself out of the remaining bit of water after the electrics had dried out enough for the engine to turn over, did the service on her tuesday to find around 4-5 liters of water in the oil and some how it hasnt damaged the engine at all at it runs beter now than it ever has which is weird...

has anyone else had any eventful experiences recently?

Good old ford escorts lol on the plus side rich least you wont have to have a bath till atleast next month lol

You've given the engine a good steam cleaning.The rings probably let so much past them that the rods didn't bend .

Ha ha your face must have been a picture when the bonnet went under. Glad all appears ok though mate, although that's a fair amount of water

well she had her mot today and failed on the emmissions but 3/4 of a bottle of redex and a retest soon sorted that out:)
