I was just about to bolt my refurbished turbo on yesterday and I noticed cracks around the wastegate. So what's the score is it scrap, will it fail,  etc etc I think you know where I'm going with this .
Just been in contact with the guy who did it and he says it's fine ,he would have said otherwise.

No me neither, but if there's any chance of it failing then what's the point in fitting it??  I was struggling to build it for the 21st as it was.

That's what I thought :-(
It was done by a guy on Facebook, Bernie's Blowers.

Surely he should of noticed that and asked you what you wanted to be done. Rather than just rebuild it and let it go without mentioning it.

Try it and see, I think it will be fine your not running 1.6 bar and many people will never have their turbo off in years to inspect that sort of thing so its just a what if, its only the housing so wont do damage

As Stu said mate, all it will do is maybe tail off boost abit, you will find most old turbos have cracks round the wastegate penny... Mine has but holds boost fine so you may be lucky? But I think it depends on where the crack is that effects it losing boost. Not sure tho

I heard tom is used to getting his crack filled up on a regular when he's working the streets so may be best to ask him?

When hot they expand so normally minimal boost leak. odd hairline ok but with 4 heavy cracks round the gate I would of binned it.

Used Bernie to rebuild my one and for me he actually replaced the exhaust housing but I've not got any pics of the cracks. But do know he had a few problems getting hold of one

Mine has a few cracks, no loss of boost that I can see at 1bar. But I would of thought that the rebuilder would of highlighted it and given you some advice/options, even if it was to tell you there is nothing to worry about.

Yeah I thought he would have highlighted it at the very least and then reassured me there's nothing to worry about.
I've chatted to a few people now and they've all said the same,he should have told me,but it's ok get it bolted on.
So I'll see how things go.
