My evo has been sat in the garage for 7 months under a car cover .

My plans are to drain the oil and change the filter for a genuine item.
Then refill and disconnect the coil .
Crank it over till the oil light goes off then reconnect coil and fire it up. .

Is there anything else people could recommend doing .?

7 months isnt long.
Check all the bushes. I have replaced all the droplinks and bushes on mine.
You might want to take brakes off and copper slip them.
Look for any signs of corrosion on brake lines.
And top up with fresh fuel as the ron drops over time.

I know its obvious and probably the first thing you intend to do but put some fresh fuel in it

Yes rather than just the coil take the plugs out puts no pressure stops things like spinning a bearing

Not sure if the Pulsar injects fuel in while cranking, I would not want to inject fuel onto dry bores if it has been standing for some time, I would suggest running up to get it warm before draining the oil, then disconnect the fuel relay, or fuse before cranking for oil pressure. As Johnny says pop out the plugs, this gives you more chance of a quick rise in oil pressure.
