1transfer box question Empty transfer box question 14th December 2014, 10:19 am

robins

have a spare transfer box which i have taken side part off to look inside i have three questions

1 is the black seal sealant standard from new on these?
2 on the end that goes to drive shaft to rear can this be removed to take apart as see a big bolt on this that no doubt
stuck on like sh*t to a blanket.
3 is there anything i need to check while apart (all looks clean)

thanks

standard seal is nissan liquid gasket, do check o-ring present & good.
Nut on flange would need removing as part of stripdown steps.
Would be good to download the nissan manuals for diagrams & shaft float measures etc.
Main thing want look at is all shaft seals good, bearing condition & gear condition, a lot could be concluded without full strip.

Quite big, body kits & wheel shops everywhere :-S & very cheap too with some very good quality work available too.
Pickups are the common thing.
Street ride , custom-classed drag/1/4 mile is quite popular
Mitsubishi & Nissan very popular, Subaru quite a rarity here. Loads of Subaru jackets & t-shirts but no real owners :-)

They like styling standard manufacturer pickups, lowering, alloys & low profiles, Diesel tuning to some extent.
The Toyota Vigo smart cab & Nissan Nirvana KC being the common sights.
French cars are rare mainly as fall to bits in a month & the dealers closed up :-) few old volvos survive, chinese & the rich here love the status of a bmw or merc but the rest of us are in jap cars or bikes ...

It different things for different people, good points are warm weather, huge selection of food, cheap & plentiful public transport, low tax charges, cheap clothes, cheap dental clinics & the superb 7/11 shops.
I think for those who do a bit of research or come here with good common sense can get the most from it.
greed is huge problem here & they all suffer from it, police, politicians being the worst & some taxi drivers :-/
A lot of the top rated tourist spots and lslands are well overrated but you can have a good time here for not a lot of money.

I have a 3 star sofa at cheap rates, but no honeymooners as don't want be kept up all night. I'm based between Bangkok & Hat-Yai.
Holidays here are pretty cheap in general really if you smart. Just love all the street vendors, sandwiches & iced coffee in the mornings & fresh fruit & thai pancakes in the evening :-) I think Europe could really benefit from a similar relaxed small home business & street vendor system .
