Well thought I would recommend BIGGRED brakes place for rebuilds as rear calipers are getting a bit hard come by. The service was very good and quick! sent calipers on Monday arrived Tuesday, received phone call Wednesday and arrived back Thursday looking brand new with 12 months guarantee and at a cost of £44.50 each and a tenner return postage. Very Happy  does cost more and takes a bit longer if you go for better paint finishes but i went for cheapest as i'm poor  Sad

Heres the contact details

and here's a phot of my returned calipers, they were very well packaged too!

complete rebuild mate, new pistons, seals, bleed nipples everything from what i can see, only stipulation is yours arent cracked, or threads damaged on bleed screws. mine were in a shit state pistons were stuck and all rusted in seals were fucked etc and they came back looking like new! Very Happy  was that impressed thought i would share the info as i know some members have paid a lot more for recons from motor factors, if you can get them.

Just had mine come back from Big Red.
Thought I'd get a red paint finish to make the R go faster.
I was charged £204 which is a bit steepper then I expected

yeh more spendy than I would of expected but not sure on what the extra cost is on colours .
everything going up baby and I expect brexit making everything even more spendy for you guys .
EU is a political disaster waiting to happen, what idiot buried you guys deep into that nazi federation dream ! that lying thief tony blair ! :-)

Does look tidy job all new boots, tidy finishing and either new pin bolts or re-plated .

Money well spent probably as quite spendy do these yourself to high standard as the cam system and/or piston threads pretty much worn mushy brown scrap on most 25+yr mechanical handbrake calipers .

I don't mind the spend if the work/product A1, it all the cheap shit that you forced pay too much for under pretence it better and quick and dirty work that in reality a cheat for better margins .

Totally agree about the EU Sir B. I voted out and wish they get on with it.
Re the calipers. I just hope they help the R pass it's MOT as it failed on insufficient holding and it's really stiff to apply.
It's not the cables as they slide quite freely.

Mine failed on the same thing but it turned out a disc was a bit rusty and needed cleaned up...something to check before you reassemble

I think you stuck with the EU cosmic, too much division and some serious twat gave your great britain away like a puppy at christmas to EU lunacy years ago .
Was talk of similar here in asia and single currency but fortunately the disaster that is the western economy and governance made us laugh off that idea :-)

I expect you find massive difference in brakes, not just handbrake, poor piston adjustment systems on those can cause very poor brake pedal .
The cam lever for handbrake what normal fubar, it wear down and rusts to mush and even when handbrake travel full range the cam lobe too worn and piston travel reduced .
Discs are cheap, solid autoparts do pretty decent oem spec ones if needed .
Good luck with the MOT , although with those shiny red boys on the back no luck needed hopefully .

As mentioned above but honestly I didn’t think my rear calipers were that bad until I got them rebuilt, the difference in the handbrake was remarkable.

They look awesome, Deffo a company I'll look into using if needed! Am I right in thinking they also provide the kits so you can rebuild them yourself?

Just looked and all the parts in kit form come to £135 so labour and paint for to work isnt too bad.

Yes I think they also supply the kits too.

I've just been in the garage to fit the calipers and discovered the right hand cable is rusted and totally seized up! I can't believe I didn't notice this week's ago.
Anyone know the best place to buy a new one?

I think you'll struggle to find any aftermarket ones now mate, i looked some time ago and couldnt find. Youre probably either going to have to ask Bob or dig deep and buy nissan ones. There was a pair for sale on ebay some time ago for about £170!?!! Ill go have a rummage for you just now...

Ebay user 8160mikel has a LH cable for sale for £100. No mention of a RH one though...

Yeah, I saw that. Just my luck.
I've got the Nissan part number so I'll ring a local dealership tomorrow and see if I can still get one.
Cheers Very Happy

You could also try these guys:

Ive got a genuine rear shock on order from japan through them for £154. Hopefully it turns up and is correct! Smile

If you not in a rush and fancy trying revive it, pull it off clean it up, hang it up and wick atf/wd40 mix into it gradually along with moving cable through it's travel, if gets nice and free (can take days soak through) feed it some fresh waxoil/atf mix to keep it from seizing .

If there is enough interest I can probably get some new LH & RH H-brake cables made....

Might be another little project for the new year.
