I recently been pondering i have bonnet raisers on my car wich i made myself but cant decide wether to keep them or not or go back to the standard look so whats peoples thoughts stay or go ?

yes in theory they are meant to allow under bonnet heat to escape when cars on the move as you well know!

ive got them fitted to my car and I have to say that I think they do work and the reason being that after a session on track if you put your hand over the rear of the bonnet by the screen you can deffo feel the heat escaping by the screen. also when driving hard on the track you can see a heat haze right in front of the screen so in my opinion they do actually work.

theres been talk by certain gtir ''boffins'' that the vortex created pushes the hot air back under the bonnet again at speed but that's all hearsay as not one of them has had a car in a wind tunnel to prove that.
a lot may also depend on whether you have a fmic or tmic as that could affect the end result massively.

so in a nutshell it comes down to horses for courses so I would say if your running a fmic and use the car on track then there a good aid to keep under bonnet temps down.
but if just a road car that goes on the occasional blat up round the lanes then I would not bother with them as lets be honest they look stupid lol

I made mine out of abit of box section then welded plates either end then painted them looks much better than aload of washers stacked up together .
