I was talking to a guy who's breaking a GTI-R, he says he has a rare set of bonnet vent blanks for sale.
Can anybody tell me more about these? It's an option I've never heard of or seen before?

Hmmm interesting, cheers for the pic Stu, I never knew those exsisted.

I think I would prefer to keep the vents open anyway, get more airflow under the bonnet that way Wink

I think I've got a lot to learn yet. I will be getting my R soon so the learning curve will begin.

I know a little bit about them because my mum actually had two in the 90's and my dad had a red sunny GTi-R.

Can't wait to actually get my car Very Happy

I found these on my car when I first got it, just seems to be a pointless option.

It may be worth keeping the drivers side one in place as it keeps the rain off the plugs. If you've got a full length plug cover on then I'd leave them off for the extra cooling.

there better off the bonnet as in winter the hot air from engine defrosts the windscreen! and helps engine cooling in summer Laughing

im still guessing they are rare,a lot of the gtirs i looked at when wanting one had them fitted but that was in 1999 including some that looked as they had never been removed
about 6 years ago when one of my cars got written off went looking for another gtir and found i think 1 in the the 10 or so cars i looked at had them and most owners never knew they existed
