Anyone know we're auto choke is on the car, car sounds like a scooby when I drive down the road and no power, think it's over fueling due to standing for ages

Thanks

You could try unplugging the idle control gubbins under the inlet manifold and see if its any better. TBH, I doubt its that though. Have you checked the lambda operation by starting the car while doing a fault code check? Faulty fuel pressure regulator could also be a candidate. Have you got a fuel pressure gauge hooked up? If not id highly recommend installing one. It's the best 20 quid you'll spend on diagnostics.
Have you got an original or aftermarket bov? Some of them can leak and cause overfuelling...
Good luck with your fault finding Smile

Hi mike

Standard fuel regulator atm

HKS bov but got a spare to try

Car was alright last year but been standing since, cleaned distributor, fresh super unleaded fuel in her but made no difference, also unplugged each HT lead while car is running which made it worse not the same so don't think its spark plugs or leads but defo smell petrol in the garage to suggest to much fuel going in...

Cold fuelling/idle controlled by ecu from coolant temp, idle via iav .
could be many things from temp sensor, slow closing injector, pressure regulator, maf sensor or wiring on any of these .

Did you sort this?
It's usually the afm when the car has been standing for a long time.
If you take it out and give the element a spray with electrical spray it usually foes the trick.
Can you do a fault code check?

Managed to sort out this morning

There was water in spark plug 1 half way up the ignition lead, fuck knows where this is from not coolant though so could be condensation or rain water running down intercooler?

Changed spark plugs and changed leads car runs a lot better

Thanks guys
