There's an old saying: If it looks stupid, but it works, It's ain't stupid.

I can tell you this much for sure, they're not that far off the mark. I know for absolute certainty that $200,000 Superflow chassis dynos use literally, Rockwell axles from a 2.5ton (Deuce and a half) US military truck. I used to work in a place that had one and we had to service the differentials every now and then.
