I am going to blast them. I don't need a polished shiney gold finish. As long as they are zinc coated and good enough to hold up to the elements I will be happy enough.
I don't think I will need to do the Vinegar Dip going forward though, if they will need to be blasted anyway. Using soda blast as to not damage the threads.
I have not even read the instructions yet for the plating kit, will leave that until next week when i start that process. May plate the calipers too when they are blasted.
I can imaging it will be trial and error as it does not sound like the most straightforward thing to do.

If you want to be picky, those sub frame cups are still available from nissan and really cheap.

They don't, but it's easy enough to make your own. And for brake lines, I'd probably just buy one of those nice pre-fabricated and terminated kits that are made of braided stainless. They're really nice quality.

That kit looks very nice.
I will send them an email and see if thay can make them for an abs car.
From reading the description it seems they supply everything except the last line. That goes from the inner arch to the actual calliper.
I already have them braided lines so this seems exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for the link

I don't believe they do, the whole point is to remove the ABS system (which on a pulsar isn't a bad thing, the ABS is terrible and it frees up alot of space), and no, they don't supply the lines for the calipers, those are separate, but also easily available.

I have the full delete internal kit with the Wilwood bias knob inside the car, it's a very nice kit and well made, and the lengths are perfect.

I forgot to mention you can get the outer sheathing in just about any color you can imagine, I went with black so they don't stick out too much, but you can get neon green if you wanted it.

So I asked them about the ABS and they supply it. I ordered a set in the carbon look sleeve and got a braided clutch line thrown in too while i was at it. I already have the Goodridge carbon look lines that go to the calipers.
It seems all i am doing is buying parts at the moment.






Greddy Manifold, not too happy with the flange on it though. I am looking to buy a Holset turbo, but they are all twin scroll manifolds, the OEM manifold actually looks better suited to the twinscroll than this manifold. The exhaust pipe that feeds the turbo seems to be a small enough diameter. Anybody got any experience of the Greddy Manifold? This one was ceramic coated at some stage.




Brembo rebuild Kit. Once I get the lines delivered i am going to have more or less a brand new breaking system fitted.  

Also front ball joints and poweflex front wishbone bushings (I forgot to order track rod ends when ordering these ball joints) might not seem like much, but when in Ireland people like to charge £10 and £15 to post small items, so it is always a very bad idea to not order things together!! Also going to get the Engine mount and gearbox mount bushings. Then will have a complete powerflex bushing kit.

Tomorrow I am removing the front hub, drive shafts, old calipers, track rod ends, coilovers, wishbones and anti roll bar

Some more updates today.
As i said I was going to do yesterday I removed the front hubs, drive shafts, old calipers, coilovers, wishbones and anti roll bar. I didn't get the passenger side drive shaft off, or the track rod ends off.



Hubs came off easy enough, so did all the ball joints and the coilovers. I didn't take off the track rod ends as they look severely rusted on to the steering rack, also the boots on the steering rack are all split. Have to consider what to do from here. I think i have a spare steering rack so will see what condition it is in.

The arches, front sills and behind the arches (much like the rear of the car) are in decent condition. The hole cut for the intercooler piping is not the best, will need to tidy that up, maybe find a big rubber grommet for it

To be honest the back of the car was a lot nicer to me, I as have found a few more problems with the front of the car.

A crack in the gearbox housing!


A lot of sealant on the gearbox case and on the oil pan!! I cant think of any good reason why they would be like that!!



On top of that, both boots on the steering rack broken, the rusted track rod ends, the drivers side driveshaft has a broken boot and a lot of in out movement.
I couldn't remove the drivers side drive shaft as i was not sure if it needs to be unbolted?? Can any one tell me?


The front wishbones are not the best either!! A lot worse than the rear subframe was

Can the rubbers at the end of the wishbones be replaced? The bigger ones, they are at the end on the right in the picture? If they cant I may just get a full replacement wishbone, rather than refurbing these ones.

Was surprised to see a Nissan oil filter


I now know what make of Tein coliovers are on it.

They are nearly half the price of the Whiteline, but don't have the added washer that moves the wishbone down lower to the ground. I think I can forfeit that though, I am sure it does improve it somehow but I don't know.

The more you strip the car the more parts you find you need to buy! I thought I had all my purchasing nearly done.

this guy does a lot of GTIR stuff too, at a fraction of the cost of the 'usual' bush suppliers. I've got his steering rack bushes on my car just now and they seem alright

What Holset you are thinking about, Hx35 super perhaps?

I was gonna get a holset HX32 but it sold, next time one comes up for sale I am going to buy it straight away. They are good for 400 to 500 bhp and supposedly spoil before 3.5k in a 2 litre

Another update.

Still not done much work on the actual car. As there is very little rust I reckon work on the car wont actually take that long, I have it stripped already, just need to spend a few days wire burshing to get the shell totally clean and then underseal it a few times.

Wire brushed the hubs and painted them.





Started to dismantle my Brembo brakes, 2 pistons had broken seals, so needed to sand both the piston and the hole the pistons went into.






So I planned on getting a Holset turbo, however, when you end up getting a relatively good deal elsewhere sometimes you divert from the plan. Ended up getting a brand new unused Garrett turbo with Apex braided lines and a brand new unused HKS actuator. I had already bought a Turbosmart external wasgete though for the Greddy manifold so am a bit overstocked now. Think I will use the Turbosmart wastegete on my integra to get rid of some boost in first and second gear as I get a lot of wheel spin.











Tomorrow I am going to fit some security to the car and also remove the Hard fuel lines and replace them for some braided lines. Right now though I have to stop buying bits, I have drained my GTI-R account very quickly, I can afford one more purchase then I'm out.
I have some things to sell to fund the rest of the project. I have to sell my other GTI-R, Tein coilovers, OEM wheels, white dials, wind deflectors, 1 set of 18" Rays CE28n, 2 sets of 17" Rays TE37s, 1 set of 17" Rays SE37 and a Silvia megan racing manifold. Once i sell all them bits I will be back on the road with this pulsar.

I'd be interested in the Te37's you may be selling

Doesn't the Greddy manifold have a triangular flange for a Greddy TD-05?

nice, hopefully selling those parts covers the cost to finish this off. Funds go quickly when modding.

THe Greddy manifold does indeed have a triangular flange. I am going to weld a T3 flange onto it though to fit the new turbo.

They will sell alright, when is the problem!! I want them sold yesterday already, nothing worst than getting stuck half way through!!
