Bobs front end stripped down ,, start date 01/11/12

I've joined the local car club and they have about 13 time trials over the year on various surfaces .
tarmac , gravel , grass + mixture
generally each time trial is between 1 & 2 mins long
SWMBO is going to use the EVO and me in the R

Sounds like fun, would love to have a go at something like this. Im hoping mine will be quite a bit further along by march, admittedly as ill probably get Bob to do a fair amount while its in being repaired

Well the motivation to get the car back on the road for the time trials has meant me doing a 9hour day on the pulsar today .. I'm happy to say bar needing to buy a 32mm socket to tighten the hub nut it's done . fully rebuilt and ready to rock .

Before i put the cover on last time i made sure i did all the rust protection and undersealing so i was left with smply rebuilding

Started by sorting the cv joint out .


And fitted the suspesnion

Word of advice for everyone between the bottom of the wing and the car is an area that catches mud and crap .
clean it out before it starts to rust through the wing or the car.
im lucky mines always clean but can imagine it's just waiting to fill with stuff

turned her over with the plugs out .. then put them back in

And then fired her up
First turn and look how she idled .


Turned her round and parked her up


just got an oil and filter to do & fit the last red mud flap then a visit to edd @ fusion to get her mapped

did you sort the decat out bob?

Looks all great rob .... like the indicator duct .... what happend to the headlight you done ... i see you used little diode type to still keep the indicater function for that side nice idea

Head light is inside the car.. Be fitted on days When its needed.... Decat is on order bob. It is 3 inch at the flange so perfect for my needs. .. Will
probably fit that when i do an oil change

Decat turned up this morning . very impressed not a bad bit of kit



I've also got my genuine filters to fit .

obviously im only going to use one of them

Mate really impressed with the amount of work youve put into the car, keep the updates coming. Mines off the road just waiting for a tidy up and reading this is getting me all excited to start, until I open the front door and feel how bloody cold it is outside. Keep up the good work

I have ordered a few more parts . AEM wide band and some evo 560cc injectors

I saw them the other day i didnt think that was a to bad a price tbh .

fitted the decat today

amazing the weight difference between them . the mongoose decat is so heavy compared to the 3inch decat ..
and oh my is it smaller in diameter



i know the 3inch looks longer but for any father ted fans

Don't know if you can tell but while it was in bits i had the bottom wishbones fully seam welded.. . Don't know if it will make any difference but worth a try

I like the fact you've painted the wishbones to match the brace bar
Did you feel any difference after you had fitted the decat?

not on the road yet so couldn't tell ya .. It's not that much louder on idle . but thats maybe coz i have two huge back boxes ..

Wishbones were powder coated gold beforehand but it ddin't last very well

Not taxing it untill the end of feb ..

I kinda know how you feel, starting to miss going out in mine as wont be done till april. Still it will be better when finished...

Are you going to take the injectors with you when you for a map rob .... all looking sweet mate ..... not sure if welding up is needed for wishbones do they split apart then ? Or is it to avoid water geting inbetween the joints just wondering as il be taking mine off soonish so il weld them up if thats the case .

it's only to make them stronger. . dunno if it will be any better . worth a try . .

Dunno might just put my injectors in now and have a play with my power fc .. will soon know tho coz wideband will let me know what the score is ....

Sounds like a plan just dont play to much as you might get lost with all the settings lol ....
