Yo yo! I've been quiet lately because I hardly have time to go on the computer and post stuff on the forum but i thought that i need to show off my daily driver Very Happy

Its a 1988 nissan sunny n13, 1.3L,1988 lowest spec in the range. No power steering and the only electronical gizmo inside is the cabin light, radio and the illumination for the clocks. I had it for a while but it was just sat doing nothing but now I'm using it as my daily.

The n13 sunny shares a lot of the parts with the n14. Suspension struts, hubs lower control arms, seat frames etc etc so parts are quite adaptable.

The car is currently lowered, cut springs on the back but im having Golf MKi coilovers adapted to fit the sunny, the front uses Golf MKi coilovers with the top mounts being swapped out and with minor modifications made to the lower brackets that mount on the hub. Ive fitted a splitter on the front & plasti dipped my bumpers to get them back to black, fitted a GTIR steering wheel, put a nicer stereo in and thats about it for now. Im also refurbing some pretty snazzy 13's/7J 3spoke ATS wheels for it so should look pretty maad after i get my adapters made up Smile Some pics below.

Day after i got it

Haha awesome Smile theyre super reliable cars but bodywork is often well.. japanese. Im quite glad to say that the car is really solid underneath with no welding done or anything, it has got rusty spots on the bonnet etc but its not full on crusty rust its just small bubbles. I'd love a nice CA swap or something, i know guys in malysia and australia do SR20DE swaps into the N13. That would be quite cool as well Smile

I want get some of the early nissan 13" alloy wheels for mine but got do little bit of welding first & replace some rear brake lines.
arches are fine & underneath is pretty clean, nothing been welded to date, few spots of rust round door window frame & that about it oh and needs new rear springs as sagging & shows it age :-/

Nice car Mike look after it as they are becoming a rare sight now.
I had a n13 it was a great car & went really well, it was the 16 gsx used to surprise lots of gti golf & cav Sri back in the day. Will always have a soft spot for them. There was a really tidy ZX for sale not long ago I really wanted to buy it but the other half would not be pleased if I bought another car LOL

Awesome cars Si Smile they're quite rare now, getting little parts is a bit of a pain in the arse if i have to be honest. Its easier to source parts up for the pulsar lol

@Nomad, FWD but they did a AWD version but it was automatic if i can remember right, nothing too exciting haha

Yeah they are great cars!!! I used to get mine off the clock at 125 regular Errr I mean 65 lol. It must be harder now to get parts it took me ages to get uprated springs & shocks think I had them made by PI this was about 16 years ago, showing my age now haha.

I think the ZX was the fastest UK version but there was some other spec cars made for the jdm only not sure about the awd version though, always wanted to see if you could make one with gtir running gear & sr20det!! I do remember the engine bay had lots of room...

There was a thread on the Modders forum years ago about a N13 fwd drag monster in Sweden. 900bhp with nitrous. Totally bonkers. I just had a look but the links don't work anymore, sadly!

Mine is not fast at all, but its a rare 5 speed so its comfortably doing 70 on the motorway. All i need off it really, dont want to abuse the old girl Very Happy coilovers/lowering springs are a direct fit off the N14s. Rear coilovers need to have the rear ARB bracket cut out because the sunny has it somewhere else and thats it really Smile Mine is lowered on VW Golf MK1 coilovers and its all good.

Hey sorry dragging this back up.
I bought a saloon n13 the other week and want to lower it (I can't keep cars standard for long Sad ). I've heard about the mk1 golf coilovers but how is it done?looking at drawings of the sunny the rear shocks look simular to the fronts which look kinda like the fronts off the golf. So I assume you will need 4 front mk1 golf coilovers to fit? I'm used to old Honda's so this is kinda new to me lol!

And the modifications will be to open the holes a bit to allow the bolt to go through?

Thanks in advance for any help Very Happy

Rob

Christ you have gone digging around on the froum haven't you haha Very Happy

Well the front mk1/2 and corrado coilovers are pretty much a direct bolt on. You will have to enlarge the holes slightly, swap top mounts, cut a sleeve which is welded onto the coilover where its ment to meet the hub. And finally shave abit of metal off the hub where it bolts down with the coilover.

Im 99% sure that theres no way of mounting the fronts on the rear. I know when i mounted my shocks they were alot higher on the rear then the front. In order to fit rear mk2 coilies on the n13 you need to cut some parts off the stock shock and make it fit. I only had coilovers on the front and got myself GTIR shocks with lowering springs on the back which were a direct bolt on.

Any more questions just message me bud.

I am absolutely terrible at technology haha! its been over a year lol since I wrote on here!

Although my reply is late thank you for getting back to me! not really much has changed since I wrote last other than me putting on 25k miles on the old car with only the ignition module packing up its been great I cant complain!

I have since put it on 35mm lowering springs about a month ago (absolute trash, they didn't lower much and aren't any stiffer, but my front spring snapped and needed a replacement quick!

I have also bought a set of Advan A3A's, 14x6.5 et8 with 25mm hub adaptors, so the fit isn't amazing on them haha they stick out well over an inch standard. I need to roll the arches more and get some narrower tyres and they should fit better.

Im going to cut the springs a bit to try and help as they have a softer progressive part to the spring which is going, that should lower it to what I want more and help with stiffness.
I am however going to start looking for a full set of second hand n14 coilovers, I don't fancy modifying much and I don't want to spend new coilover money Sad im very tight lol!
how stiff are your GTIR struts with lowering springs? and do you what springs you used?

Cheers, Rob

Ps. I am going to make an effort to use this more now im spending more time on the car! Smile
