Remove the drain pipe and crank it over with the coil off also pull the fuse for the fuse pump.

The way I checked was taking the oil feed off the turbo and disconnecting the coil packs and turning the engine over

What does it exactly do?? I crnt get oil coming thru the pipe that feeds the turbo, i have had the sump off and straightened it bcus it was bent and throught it was blocking the oil feed in the sump

If oil pressure goes to high it opens up to release pressure.
basically without it you would have major lack of oil feed.
Some better pics of the item found would be good plus looking for other bits would be good along with inspecting oil pump assembly then take it from there.

Well it not oil relief valve ...
Could be something from within the oil pickup strainer seem you got interesting hole in mesh. unbolt it & have a good look.

Anybody know if the rubber o ring is missing from oil strainer if it will stop it sealing and sucking the oil up ?

It is but i dont know if the o ring missing would just lower oil pressure or stop it altogether at a guess just lower it

If no o-ring or gasket then yes it would effect pump pickup.
Not enough details or pics to know what's going on really.
Where has that part come from because I don't recognise it
For something that been in a nice oily sump it look a bit rusty on the top
Seems you have two strainers compare them & see if you can see any odd differences, bodges
Oil feed to turbo could be purely feed pipe so that best removed & checked for blockage & flow.
I would have a good look at timing cover & pump for any odd signs & also take a look at oil filter too
Exactly why you looking at your turbo oil feed, what led to you assuming oil feed issue !! :-S
