just when i thought my luck couldnt get any worse than its been this week ive been hit with the biggest shit stick today Crying or Very sad

as some of you were aware ive just spent a fortune on my tvr doing all the cams etc so decided to take it for a spin today.
went out in it this morning and alls good, pulls like a train so was well happy with a big grin on my face.

so this afternoon thought i would take clare out for a run and have a bit of pub lunch out in the sticks.
so was giving it a bit of spirited driving loving the sound of the engine etc when bang lost the power steering, shortly followed by car boiling up and 0 oil pressure.

anyway i got the thing back home after getting a cab back to my house to pick the low loader up and stuck the car back in garage.

been asking on tvr forum and it seems theres a shaft that drives the oil pump, p/s and water pump and its more than likely sheared.......heres the bad bit though, gotta pull the whole engine and box out to do it

so thats my summer trip to the south of france up the wall, im truly gutted Crying or Very sad

roll on the bad luck

Gutted mate. Ill never know why we put ourselves threw it Rolling Eyes After the convo on the phone to you yesterday about bleeding wilwood calipers up, the brake line on the drivers side snapped Mad when i was undoing the old lines! so now got to take inlet off as the brake line runs around the back of it Rolling Eyes Need to sort a water leak behind there also so i needed it off anyway! Sounds like you have got a bigger job on tho. I feel your pain lol

well from what ive gathered it has happened before evidentally theres a keyway on the shaft and this can sheer or it could be the shaft or drive gear thats stripped/broken.
i wont know till i pull the engine and box out but if i have to do that then il strip the whole thing down as i may have caused head warpage or bottom end damage so would be crazy not to do the whole engine.

god knows how much all thats gonna cost but will run into well over a grand if not a lot more

gaz...yes thats a bummer mate as its a bitch to get at that pipe, cant you get a flaring tool and add a bit of copper pipe and 2 unions

Atleast you have the experiance & knowledge to do it yourself Bob & dont need to pay labour charges!

Yeh it looks a bitch but is it still a bitch once inlet is off? as it needs to come off anyway as ive got a coolant leak aswell Rolling Eyes Or is it still easyer to add abit of pipe?

Real bad luck Bob, having tried to keep a Stag V8 running for 3 years I know exactly how you feel. Just when you think it's all done the buggers find something else to go wrong...

well engine temps hit 140 degrees, no oil pressure for a mile of driving before i noticed it.
really not good news and engine will need to be completely stripped to determine what damage has been caused plus why the 3 pumps failed in the first instance

crazy crazy design to have 3 such crucial parts all driven by one shaft with a woodruff key holding it all in place Rolling Eyes

i just feel truly sick today but not worth whining about it just gonna have to get on and fix the thing.............again!

well most designers make things to be as complicated and compact as they can and also they get revenue when things break/go wrong

sorry to hear this bob but sounds abit like our ford tractor, would work it for a while then it would start over heating and oil light coming on, took the sump off to find that the oil pump is driven by a shaft from the top of the engine and the shaft has a hex fitting on to the pump, but unfortutly the hex has worn away to a circle so the pump wasn't being driven.

found out later that its the same design as the ford transit vans!

and people wonder why britain has lost its car manufacturing Crying or Very sad

yeah true gaz but one thing i dont have is time unfortunately or space.
just been quoted 5k for another fully rebuilt engine fitted so may go with that
lot of money which il never get back on car but at least il be able to use the thing rather than it being laid up for another year or more.

think god hates me ive deffo done something to piss the bigman off lol
