Hi all,
yesterday i put some gas in the tank, full tank, to verify how many kilometers i can do with a full tank before putting the walbro in...

i've done 55km since and i loose 1quarter tank. (without pushing it too, putting the 5th gear on half of the 55km done...

normal or not?what do you think Suspect

more than that, i have some difficulties to start it up, like if it was full of gas in cylinders....

before stoping, i leave it run 20sec before cutting

Sounds a bit excessive, I think I did about 200 miles to just over half of a tank of petrol when I collected my car from bobs which I think is good because now I have the car home and im being a bit heavier on the right foot I'm probably seeing less than 200 miles to a full tank lol

200 miles = 320 kms so not bad, as i do before with my previous R.

maybe i have some troubles with the gauge too...., i will see when i'll be empty!

i do have misfireing sometimes, and other so it is maybe the same problem....

You should look at getting a Wideband AFR gauge installed Fred.

They are brilliant pieces of kit to help diagnose faults and can potentially save an engine, if a fault occurs with fuelling you see that your AFR is wrong from the gauge before any real damage is done.

The only downside is that you become paranoid and constantly monitor the gauge Laughing

They are realy handy thing to have though. I don't think I will ever have a car without one now that I have used one.

buy a set of a pillars and make a gauge pod, and keep your old pillars for when you put it back to standard

yours has the rb box fred or am I mistaken?

if so then theres your reason for poor fuel consumption but obviously as above make sure all is as it should be regarding afr's and timing

no, RA box.
about timing, i do have a strobe timing light but it is not adjustable. so i can only look and the marking on the engine thing in front of the pulley.
do you know which bar is 20° one?

regarding the walbro aswell, i didnt actually notice a difference in fuel consumption after fitting mine, i use the same amount of fuel for my work journeys with the walbro as i did with the std pump, sometimes it feels a little better on the fuel

The only thing I notice with fitting the walbro is I can't let the tank go much below a quarter or it starts getting fuel starvation.
Before I had it fitted, the best I managed was 310miles on a tank, now I get at best 200miles to 3/4 of a tank.

Ok, so she is not good, it is set to the timing mark before the last one.

Yeah I think I got it as low as possible, might have knocked the fuel lever sender maybe?

Back to my thread, to review the timing, do I need to undo the 2 bolts (on at the top of the distributor and the one at 8h down?) And then rotate it front or back, am I good with that?

Well to sum up. My consumption is quite normal at 320km for a tank.
