Im still in for it, I'm not worried about the danger, danger is my middle name Laughing I've already suffered a serious Motorsport injury so I'm not scared of getting another. I don't think anyone will end up getting hurt but I appreciate the danger and you have got to be willing to accept that risk if you are going to race.

I have just realised how far away it is but I don't mind travelling and making a day of it, I used to travel to London every week for work so I don't mind doing it for fun Smile

I don't think I will be any use as a driver because I've never driven brands hatch and I have no experience in a fast gokart but I'll still come to the selection process day because it will be a good laugh and if I turn out to be any good then I'll come along and race for the team.

Like I say I've got one advantage and that's the fact that I'm a small **** Laughing

Sounds like an amazing opportunity bob, and as I said earlier stick my name down as I want to go round buckmore park let alone the brands hatch bit.

If needed a friend of mine runs a karting team with 6 drivers under him so might come in useful somewhere along the line. Is also an instructor at www.therealgranturismo.com

This is where I have to admit that I've never driven a Kart but I'd love to come along on the day if there's any background stuff to do, or just to watch.

right chaps just spoke to him again today and the karts are 200cc probably twin engine but this is all to be confirmed at a later date.
basically teams are welcome to use there own kart/s and some are pro race teams such as burton power so there will be a mixture of different speed karts on track.

he said what he does not want is slow karts as its a recipe for big collisions and possible injuries so all karts will need gear ratios changing in order to make them faster even if not pro f1 karts, all karts will be capable of at least 80mph maybe 100mph but wont be pro f1 karts unless we supply one of our own.

I never realised but there will be a lot more teams than I was initially told about as the guy I know is organising 5-6 chosen teams but the charity itself have people coming with different teams from all over the uk so in effect there could well be 100 karts on the track which in a way is better as it will make for some great racing.

whoever supplies us with the kart will also supply us with all safety gear including helmets if you don't have your own. a mechanic will also be on hand who will help with pit stops driver changes and tyre changes if needed
the race will go ahead come rain or shine and there will be different class winners dependant upon what powered kart we have as there will be others in our class also

will be more details to follow as and when I have them Very Happy

will take just one more place for the trial and il close the places as we only will be taking 5 for the team and 20 is plenty enough to pick from, will take the next best 3 as reserves if they so wish.
as said not neccesarily the fastest but the smoothest and those that have done brands before on a few occasions will obviously have an edge over everyone else unless your a proven kart whizzkid lol
some will be a bit disappointed (cant odds that really) but all are welcome to come along and support the entire day which should be a great day for everyone especially if the weathers nice Very Happy

As it's for charity no-one can be to annoyed, part of the chosen 6 or not I'll be there on the day to support, looking forward to buckmore though.

Also do you have any contact details I can.pass on to my friend as he would like to get involved, or can you pass on his details. Said he would be able to provide karts/tuition if required. https://m.facebook.com/CooperMotorsport.co.uk

yep il stick will down then dave then that will be the 20

mark............what karts has he got?
ideally would want twin engine pro kart geared for a large track plus his services as a mechanic for the day

we can advertise him and his business in exchange which is what most kart providers are doing.
the actual cost per driver is around £135 tbc, but as said gti-r us and gtir motorsport club between them will fund 50% of the costs so drivers will only need to pay around £70 each for the entire day which im sure everyone will agree is mega cheap for the opportunity to drive a fast kart around the indy circuit in a race and all the monies go direct to the charity.
