How much is it out the curiosity stu?

No wonder the site doesn’t have any traffic if you can’t find it. It’s sad because forums are the best place to find info IMO. Does the IG account or fb get much?

Should send an email, honestly if I hadn’t saved the new link, before the old link would redirect you, I wouldn’t know how to find the site?

I just googled GTiR Motorsport and got the link for gtir-us.forumotion.co.uk
Anything less direct and no google results lol  What a Face
I had clocked url change but had used the original domain url since day 1 and not saved new url as domain forwarding must of been setup until the GTiR Motorsport domain expired .

Should send out bulk email to all members, only way forward really .

FB is absolutely no replacement for info stored in threads on a forum or the quality of replies .
Be a shame loose it, modifiers loss was shameful mess and fair bit of good global quality info lost too .

Possibly regional google results differ !
personal search history/browsing history likely effect results too .
Does not come up with much else so no new members find it ...

Its basically useless when using google to search for info if our threads dont come up either.

Its funny in way, some forums would blast people who didnt search and would post an already asked question. Now they use FB and people post the same question over and over again anyway lol

Indeed, anyone google searching a problem or part details not likely get this forums data :-( .

That the issue with FB, when something decent does get posted it lost within days and when asked again the answers may not be same/accurate . good thing with forum posts is more answers and updates to a post over time gives good solid data many times with feedback/updated details .

Is what it is I guess, If not enough interest from members then it just me and you moaning and few bots :-)
Is a shame as this was most friendly helpful easy access global member GTiR forum to date .

Even majority of the bots have disappeared from the forum Laughing

Well receiving emails from forum that there's been a reply on a thread has reminded me of the old days Smile

I think the forum has been around 10 years this year???

Just replied in other post but il copy it here too

Only thing i can think of is when i initially started this forum it was attached to my Gti-r-us website but it got so big thats when Stu & Leighton helped me break the forum away to run on it's own platform.
There is a possibility that it could be re-attached to Gti-r-us, however the data etc on the forum may be too much for my website to cope with

Hiya guys
Thought this forum had gone down but it's back again Very Happy

TOTS has now ceased trading after the covid thing together with my lack of enthusiasm.

Still trading through Gti-r-us but dont advertise anything anymore (other than ebay) mainly through lack of time

Used to be so much better in the forum days, when fb and all the other social media sites popped up well that was the final nail in the coffin for me and the forums too.
i can not be assed with all the bitchiness, back stabbing & time wasters on social media so rarely ever go on any social media platform

I still have thousands upon thousands of parts for these cars probably around two or three 40ft xcontainer loads plus around half a dozen gtir's left in stock.

However due to a big change in my circumstance i no longer have the time or enthusiasm to keep taking photo's of items and all the other hassle that goes with selling bits so unfortunately when i vacate my workshop later this year there will be loads of items that will end up being weighed in as scrap no doubt.
Real shame but unless someone came along and buys all the parts or business then i have no alternative, got far too many other commitments, expenses at present to deal with selling renting the workshop is no longer a viable thing for me, needs someone who is commited and enthusiastic to carry it on.

Out of curiosity how many people still look in on this forum?

That’s no good to hear bob, I hope things work out and if the enthusiasm isn’t there maybe it’s time to move onto new things. Not many people come on here these days, which is a shame, only takes a small group to keep it going.

Good to see The oldest GTiR man is still full of life ... thumbsup
Quite sad that all the R forums have some concerns .
The Oz one along with this one had built up fair bit of useful info that not likely get done again .
Lack of buzz online and event activity got effect owner motivation and cars market appeal to some degree .

g'day Mr B, yeah still kicking along.
Forums unfortunately are too slow for immediate gratification that a lot want today.
but they do hold ALL the answers and saves continually asking the same question, often only 1 day apart, no-one reads or searches old post, and it is often their way of socialising, sad but the way of the world.

I keep saying all it takes is a core base of users that can keep the forum going and engaging, it doesn’t take a huge group. Hell even posting knowing there are 10 regular users that will respond is enough.

Yeh I guess number doesn't have be that big keep it ticking over with some fresh posts and up to date info .
All these forums started from small numbers of users .
Main thing is site admin/owner got be 100% interested in keeping it active/registered .
A few regional meets, stand at car events, some merchandise and a good parts section seems beneficial areas that help the community .

We got a Subaru club in Bangkok that does the club scene well, Subaru not that big here but that community is managed perfectly online and at events, generally they out for a meal or car event every 2 months, one guy specialises in salvage parts and is about best source in thailand for decent used older model impreza or forester parts .

I think whats where some of the more generic clubs e.g. like nissan or subaru are able to attract and maintain a group, other cars also have been more accessible than the gtir aswell which has helped. Ive been meaning to look whats available in my area, I think there is a nissan group and jdm one aswell.

I guess brand clubs do have potential for larger member base but it seems to me be more linked to having right people involved.
We have a Nissan club and it useless, Got a small Skyline club and you see same faces from that club at any motor related event you attend and they nice people get involved with and keen adapt and got people onboard with other vehicle models/makes .
Malaysia had some good years of GTiR active group and again mainly case of right people and it at high times of the JDM turbo import craze .
Always expected UK jeep fairly active owner group as they had pretty big grey import numbers, probably biggest amount of used parts market and being fairly small country meets can be easier to include more regional members .
