my inner cv boot has torn does the drive shaft split in the middle (where the rubber piece is #2) or do i nee to pull in right out to replace boot

Sorry mate, confused - the shaft will need to come out.

So it doesn't split in the middle where there's a rubber piece

No the rubber is to stop it hitting the chassis of the car as it goes up and down I think?

Just give the drive shaft a good few hard pulls and it pops out

Pull it out and take joint off end .
think nomad has a how to on inner one .
Have a thread in the useful links with all the boots, Blueprint boots about best in quality and fit yet sensible price if shop about .

You need to check see wether it's a tripod joint also as some are different .... if it is it will be the same as in my how too ... is not to difficult to be honest once you undo the hub it just slides out ....
